You get what you pay for. For around $60 (US), you'll an average room in a somewhat run down hotel. The smell of the room deoderizer was overpowering and the carpet was gross. Lame breakfast. On the plus, fairly quiet and sorta helpful front desk folks.

In short: passable if you're traveling on the cheap, but later in the week we found a couple of really nice hostels that were way better and for half the price.

Room Tip: get a room at the front of the hotel , facing the street ! we had a nice little balcony ! and it was...

Cordon del Plaza is a nice hotel: it's clean, have a good staff, good breakfast and its rooms are quite confortable. While its location is not bad, I would recommend something closer to Plaza Independencia, where a number of hotels, restaurants and stores are located. But the worst thing in the hotel is its parking facilities. The hotel does not have its own, and guests have to park their cars five blocks away, and just after 10PM when it becomes available, really bad during cold nights in July. Hotel restaurant is quite limited.4

I travelled with my boyfriend to Mendoza and stayed in this hotel in 2009. I was very surprised! Very comfortable, clean, and great location. I'm allergic to dust and mold but had no problem there. Very good!!!!

Good location, very close to street with restaurants and shops. Security was poor: window didn't lock, so someone could easily have climbed in from corridor, and doorknob was broken, as if someone had previously tried to break in. My bar of soap that I carry on my travels was thrown away by the housekeeper -- annoying! Reasonable buffet breakfast included in restaurant downstairs. Hotel restaurant is good place to have dinner

While I was cautiously optimistic due to the other reviews, I checked in with an open mind. The front desk staff was helpful, spoke English and let me check in at 10:30am. I asked for an inside room to avoid any street noise (I learned from my hotel in Buenos Aires). Sadly, inside rooms and outside rooms are not exempt from the absolutely ridiculous noisy hallway. Everything echoes in the hallway and you hear every single room door SLAM shut at all hours of the day/night. The housekeeping staff starts around 6am and they clink and clang up and down the hall. The hotel does not have "DO NOT DISTURB" signs for the doors so housekeeping knocks on your door and wakes you up. When she can clearly see that she woke you up, she apologizes but then never comes back to clean the room. Maybe you have to call down and have her come back...who knows.
Location is great. Walkable to everything. Breakfast ok but nothing special.

There were pluses and minuses to this place. On the plus side, the location is great - just a few blocks from main square and walking distance to many of the sights. Plus it is very inexpensive for only $AR 155 for a standard room. And the staff is friendly and courteous. But on the downside, the rooms and the decor are very dingy. The carpets are industrial strength with lots of wear. The walls need painting. The bed is not that comfortable. The widows are small. And the room looks like it has not been redecorated since 1970! Also, I was on the first floor and I noticed street noise - it wasn't terrible but I noticed it.
But then again I have a private room with en suite bathroom, TV and phone and daily maid service. And the bathroom seemed up to standard. All for the equivalent of under US $40.
Often in life you get what you pay for, no? So overall I wouldn't stay here again. I personally would spend a bit more for a four star hotel with a more comfortable room. But the hotel is a good value for the price and location if that is your priority.
