“Pleasant Stay”
Reviewed 22 July 2014

I booked this hotel in March 2014 through Say HueQue tours in BA for a wine tour. The hotel is located in a quiet neighbourhood, a couple of blocks from the beautiful and large General San Martin Park and Mendoza University, and a couple of blocks from the numerous restaurants and clubs on Avenue Villenueva Aristides. It is a long walk to the centre of town. It is a converted old building, and as such all the rooms are different. Definitely not a Holiday Inn! Lots of quirks and character, if not a bit run down. My room was small, very clean, stylishly designed and painted. Very friendly and helpful staff. Typical Argentinian breakfasts of pastries, cereals, juice, coffee, mystery meat sliced very thinly and white cheese. No complaints, and reasonably costed.

The Bohemia is situated in a very quiet residential area but less than 5 mins walk from Mendoza's bar, restaurant, club strip (not strip club !) and 15 mins from city centre.
Rooms are not particularly grand but they do the job and for the price paid are very fair value.
What sets the Bohemia apart are the great staff, in particular the wonderfully resourceful and multi talented Emir who made a big difference to our stay. Emir has bags of enthusiasm for Mendoza and the surrounding area, he will enthusiastically organise trips etc and recommend restaurants Tisha suit your tastes. Be sure and dine in the hotel to so that you can sample Emirs cooking and a selection of fine Mendoza wines.
Yes, the hotel could probably do with a bit of a 'spruce' up but check the price (= fair value), the location and take advantage of the staffs local knowledge to make the most of your stay in Mendoza.

We booked this hotel on the basis of the pictures posted, unfortunately if doesn't quite live up to what it could be!!! Old and lime crusted shower head, paper thin curtain that didn't fully close so the house opposite could see through...and a poor breakfast in comparison to other hotels. The staff are lovely and if they spent a bit of money on the place it COULD be great. Just felt very tired.

I found the owners and staff to be remarkably responsive and helpful to the guests. Each guest was given individual attention with a genuine interest in making their stay in Mendoza as comfortable yet as rich an experience as possible. Their enthusiasm for the city is infectious! As a result of their guidance, I had a wonderful wine tour experience, ate in some of the best restaurants in the city and enjoyed Mendoza enormously. The Bohemia is a wonderfully restful and comfortable place to call home when in Mendoza. This includes the rooms as well as the public areas as well as Emir's cooking!

Everyone at Bohemia is so friendly and hospitable. We felt at home the minute we walked in the door! Emir made us some fabulous meals with excellent wine pairings and put together a wonderful private wine tour specifically for us. We loved his passion. Walter was also friendly and very helpful. And if you look up the definition of hospitality you would find Sylvia - when we decided to stay 4 extra days over the Easter holiday she went out of her way to make room for us. Bypass the big hotels and choose this gem for an amazing Mendoza experience!

Really liked the way they had decorated the hotel....very unique and interesting. Emir was extremely helpful in giving us suggestions. I have found that all the B&B's in Argentina have the same breakfasts; however, the Bohemia Hotel had some very good fruit as well as pastries and the usual ham and cheese and corn flakes. The beds were very comfortable. Would I stay here again? Yes, but I would ask for one of the rooms recently remodeled/updated.

First the positives: great location, nice staff, fun & accommodating owner. Negatives: out-dated and tired rooms, mouldy bathrooms, so-so breakfasts. I really have a difficult time reviewing this accommodation as I feel it offers both the best & worst of what I expect. The owner, Emir, is friendly & gregarious PLUS a very good chef. He made us and another couple a wonderful 3 course dinner at a very fair cost. He and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The room we stayed in (#6) was NOT what we expected. The sheets and pillow cases were too small for the mattresses & pillows. As well, these were somewhat stained & greyed and most of the towels were thread-bare and worn. The bathroom taps literally came off if turned too much, the shower and bath were mouldy; definitely the most inferior room we stayed in during our 3 week holiday in South America. We looked into other rooms near ours and these were similar but I believe some rooms have, indeed, been refurbished. Also, our room faced the street so was very noisy. This boutique hotel is not as advertised.
