Location is in a neighborhood. We felt safe although the street lighting is minimal at best. We spent 4 nights there and the final two days were less enjoyable because the front desk person was oblivious to us...we did not feel comfortable asking her questions and she did not look up so we could greet her. Once we presented ourselves for breakfast she turned on the music on her computer to a very high level. The music was particularly appropriate for the early morning and the setting. The property out by the pool needs some attention to detail. Our room seemed to be clean and the linens were acceptable. We would not stay here again.

This was a beautiful boutique hotel. Only 5 well appointed and charming rooms . The staff was great and the breakfast was good as well. Had it not been for the manager I would rate this hotel a 5! We traveled there with our Argentinian host who was asked to put down a deposit for our 4 rooms for Feb 27 / 28. After we checked out our host reviewed his invoice and noticed that the deposit was not credited to the account for the rooms. He called the manager who said that she was sure she returned the deposit of $800 Pesos in cash, to him during breakfast. He claimed that she did not and she agreed to look for it. He called back later and the story changed whereby she claimed that she returned the cash in an enevlope while were were loading our car. We were the only people in the hotel and none of the 8 of us witnessed any exchange. Its unfortunate that our´host did not question this while in the hotel. But, it seems dubious that a deposit would be returned in cash rather than applied to the bill. Either way I feel the Manager on duty that morning showed poor customer service with no regard for trying to remediate the situation. I do not know who the owners are but this type of potential dishonesty will not serve them well going forward. Needless to say we will seek another hotel in San Rafael next time we visit.

If you dont need too much luxury or commoditties, Red Wine Club is the place. The rooms are really comfortably, the pool is nice, and its very clean.
The best of all?: The breakfast!! really amazing for the price you pay.
The worst?: It s a little bit away from bars and restaurants, but hey... San Rafael is not a big city..

Room Tip: Ask for a room away the breakfast area.

my partner and i had a really good two night stay here, was recommended by the place we stayed in while in buenos aires, really nice little hotel, clean, quiet, decent location, reasonable price, very good wine on offer, we found the staff really helpful even with our dodgy spanish....rooms were nice, hammocks in the garden were even nicer!

it's a small place and if you're looking to be waited on or for a big, luxury hotel experience then maybe not for you but if you're travelling around and want to chill from a great base in a lovely city then check it out. would love to go back.

We stayed in the Red Wine Hotel for 5 nights and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Contrary to other reviews, we found the staff to be especially friendly and helpful and every request was dealt with immediately and effectively. The rooms are basic but comfortable and there was always plenty of hot water for showers etc. Breakfast was a little disappointing (toast, cold meat, cheese, fruit juice and coffee) but was perfectly adequate. The swimming pool was tiny and not too inviting with floating leaves etc but we were there at the end of the season. However, the courtyard surrounding the pool was a great place to sit and relax.

The location was perfect for us as it was "7 blocks" from the centre of San Rafael (8 AR$ taxi ride from the bus station) and was very quiet at night. The 15-20 min walk into town was no problem as there were various routes to take - all of which had interesting "features". If needed, there were several mini-markets nearby.

There are several trips to be taken throughout the region and the hotel staff will book these for you with door to door service. (Canyon Atuel was the best although involved a long day and do ask for a trip with the appropriate guide. We didn't and spent a fascinating day with 10 Argentinians trying to translate for us!).

The nearest resturants were in town and we preferred La Fusta (near juncion of Av H Yrigon and Av Moreno) because of the very friendly service and choice of food. There's also a wide range of cafes, bars etc to suit every taste - especially at night when San Rafael really comes to life.

In summary, the Red Wine Hotel is a boutique hotel situated in a quiet residential area but which has most of the necessary facilities - including free internet access. It does not have the large international hotel paraphenalia but a much more intimate feeling. We would definitely stay here again

Room Tip: Best rooms are Barbera and Pinot Noir
