“Great hotel in a beautiful location”
Reviewed 11 August 2014

It has been several years since a friend and I visited the Sheraton at Iguazu Falls, but after reminiscing with my friend over the trip yesterday I thought I would return to write a review of the hotel. We had a superb stay at the Sheraton, though sadly, it was only for one night. We were to fly in from Rio de Janeiro but unfortunately the flight got canceled due to weather in the Falls area. We had to spend an extra day in Rio and lost a night at Iguazu. We only had two nights to begin with so we were kind of bummed. It was equally a drag that we couldn't get a refund for the first night we missed, but I guess that happens.
The Sheraton was very clean, and very quiet. It was located along the tranquil bluffs of the falls and the sound of the falls off in the distance was really quite incredible. I would definitely return to this hotel on my next trip to Iguazu. It was very convenient with the falls being a very short walk from the hotel. A beautiful place.

My partner stayed in this hotel and celebrated his birthday there. Since I couldn't be there, I wrote the hotel reservation manager to see if they could organize a present in his room. They responded immediately and offered me a long list of possible gifts / attentions. It was also no problem at all to print out a birthday note for my partner and put this in his room. That's what I call excellent service!!

The location really could not be better. We'd been treated to a stay here on an otherwise budget trip and a room with a falls view does exactly what it says on the tin. The falls are pretty chaotic with tourists during the day but if you are at the Sheraton you have access to the park before anyone else gets there, and after they've gone home. The hotel itself is not what you might expect from a Sheraton, a bit tired and not particularly good facilities. The food was OK but nothing to write home about. Like I say, this is all about location.

Room Tip: Get a falls view, it's worth it!

Return trip to Iguazu after four years. The Sheraton has had several upgrades since our last visit. Rooms are comfortable, clean and the view out over the falls priceless. You can leave your balcony door open at night while listening to the thundering of the falls, watching the Tucans find shelter; just be careful with the monkeys.
The breakfast at Sheraton is a top notch buffet - first class. In the evening, can highly recommend the sandwiches and salads in the lobby bar terrace. Main restaurant a little bland and pricey. Large servings, sometimes big enough for two. The hotel is very remote, so you can't go out at night, save going by cab into town. The true value is the location and the views. Due to terrible rains in May, Devil's Throat access is closed until next year. Only some higher vantage points and the entire lower systems are open. San Martin island is closed but this will not hinder your visit.

Room Tip: Falls view

The hotel is inside the national park and the easy walking trail provides access to one of the world's most impressive waterfalls. The falls are actually very hard to describe; they are breathtaking. Many rooms have a view of one of the more dramatic falls among the whole chain of falls called "devil's throat". These rooms are a little more expensive but well worth it.
The on site-restaurant is fantastic. Breakfast was very extensive. We had dinner there one night and it was very relaxing with a very talented local musician playing a harp. It made the experience very memorable. The hotel is a 15 min taxi ride away from town. Nice atmosphere in town. We felt very safe.

Stay regularly at multiple Starwood Hotel's around the world and this property has alot missing to be called a Sheraton.

I will start with what was enjoyable...
Location, Fantastic location, as you walk in the front door there is a breathtaking view of the falls. Easy to beat the rush in the mornings and you can stay around until the park closes.
We were on the SPG floor and had a tree outside that every evening toucans would briefly stop by. Magic!
It has a roof balcony with a great view of the falls, grab a bottle of Argentinian red and a glass at sunset and you will have a moment! The only downside is they keep it locked and it costs a fortune to get up there, usually you can get around paying somehow...

As for the drawbacks...
Don't expect luxury, this is a 3 star property at best. The rooms are not what you call clean and modern. It is a worn out 70's hotel with a bit of cosmetic dressing up. The aircon was not very good, the running water had a bit of a pong and poor pressure. Don't open the balcony door at night as there are thousands of mosquitoes trying to gain entry (part of being in a jungle). No Wifi.
The restaurant was woeful. It was the only bad meals we had in Argentina... Yes a bad meal in Argentina! The price was astronomical for really poor service and poor food both off the menu and buffet. Unfortunately at night there is not much choice. There is a really tasty parilla in the park village.

Would I stay here again? Reluctantly... You are here to see the falls so the location is the main factor. Don't stay here more than a night or two, the isolation will be hard to deal with. Especially with poor food at night.

The location was excellent right next to the Iguaźu Falls, which were only a short walk away. As with all Sheraton's the standard of the room was high quality as were the public spaces and other facilities. We also took advantage of the room service for dinner, which again was good quality and prompt, as we had a falls view room and wanted to soak up the Iguaźu atmosphere. Be prepared to pay for everything, but we knew that when we booked. The place is overpriced and breakfast is not included in the high room tariff, which would be provided as standard practice in less high end establishments. There are no tea/coffee making facilities in the room and be aware that a 21% tax may be added to the room tariff depending on how you booked the room.
