“Excellent hotel in Iguazu”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 August 2014

There is only one reason you have come here and that is to see the Iguazu Falls. So, everyone's visit is fairly transitory. There is a large selection of hotels in Iguazu; many of them will disappoint you so please choose carefully. We spoke to several different friends before settling on Loi Suites and given our needs we were not disappointed. We were less than 20 minutes from the Argentine entrance to the waterfalls. The LOI is modern and well-appointed.

Reading over several past reviews there have been some improvements. First, internet is now free, but slow and limited to only 2 devices at one time, which puzzled and confounded my children. We spoke to the front desk who said that their internet bandwith was very limited so that was the only fair approach for their guests. As expected, internet was much faster when less guests were present. Second, the middle pool (there are 3 connected) is now heated to 25-27 C, which we found refreshing after long hikes around the Iguazu Falls. Alas, there is no hot tub (except in the villas), which would have been a tremendous improvement for the facility. (We mentioned it to the staff who said there had been some discussion, so we were apparently not the first to mention this oversight.)

The hotel is set in the local jungle on the Iguazu River. It is quite isolated and therefore extremely quiet. The hotel is laid out from a central core building which houses the restaurant and common areas. The buildings housing the rooms are linked by cable bridges which are fun to walk over (if you are queasy, you can walk below on the path). There are elevators in each of the buildings so it is very easy for luggage (we were traveling light and carried our own luggage to our room). The rooms are spacious with a large screen TV (only Spanish language channels; we asked for CNN in English but it was not available the staff said). Closer to the river are several villas with large porches (with outdoor tubs); none were occupied when we visited.

There are some very nice common areas. in the main lobby there is a large and well-appointed common area with a large outdoor patio overlooking the pool and the Iguazu River. There is a very large pool (actually 3 connected) with large patios around them.

We ate two breakfasts and one dinner in the main restaurant and one dinner in the Kon Tiki restaurant by the pool. Contrary to other reviews, we found the breakfasts (which should be included in the price of the room) more than adequate with freshly-squeezed juiced and fresh fruits and a selection of meat, cheese, bread and pastries that you typically find in an Argentinian hotel. Breakfast is completely self-serve; even for coffee and tea. Dinner was completely different: white table clothes, attentive staff, a good selection of different dishes (the beef and fish were very tasty), and traditional desserts. Finally, there is a large bar adjacent to the pool that serves pizza and sandwiches by the pool called the Kon-Tiki where we ate our final meal. We found the food very good there as well.

Most of the staff spoke reasonable English; the reception spoke very good English. Most everyone at the hotel had cars or buses picking them up for different Iguazu tours. The staff did a very good job of knowing who and when we were being picked up.

If you are inclined to walk down and up 250 stairs, there is a nice view of the river (there is a funicular down to the river but it was inoperative). There are also several paths through the jungle that we found interesting.

Room Tip: Villas look very nice if you care for your own space and hot tub We liked the rooms in buildings cl...

Unbelievable place in the heart of the Iguazu National Park jungle, just minutes away from the Iguazu water falls. The architecture of the hotel is terrific, and the suspended wooden bridges connecting the rooms to the main hub were really spectacular. After an exhausting 2 day trek in the water falls national park, we spent 2 days in the hotel to chill out, and it worth every minute. It was a really special experience to swim in the hotel's swimming pool, just feet from the jungle's trees and creatures. The restaurant was absolutely great, and the terrace overlooking the pool simply magical. Try the Marakulla Caipirinha...

This hotel is located within a 10 minute car ride to Puerto Iguazu town and 20 minutes away to the Argentinian part of Iguazu Falls (a bit secluded but transportation is no issue at all). It is certainly interesting and unique – designed to blend in within a natural environment of a tropical-like forest, each of the low rise buildings are connected by wooden suspension walkways. You would be awed by the architecture and its natural surroundings.

Check in was good and the staff spoke well in English. Rooms were very spacious. Bed comfort and cleanliness was within expectation but for a nasty looking stain on the bedsheet. Due to the humidity and location, the room felt a little bit musty but it didn’t bother me much. But do keep your windows closed as being within a forest and overlooking the greenery, you could get insects and bugs in your room.

Wifi is complimentary in the lobby but chargeable in the rooms at around US$15 per day. Internet connection was rather slow and spotty too. The swimming pool looked impressive but it’s not heated and looked like it needs a bit more cleaning.

Breakfast was pretty basic – continental type with cheese and cold cuts, cereal, pastries etc. However, service was average as somehow, some of the staff looked kind of glum and disinterested. Dinner was average too (and a bit on the pricy side) - chances are, you would be taking your dinner here if you are not keen to travel to town.

What’s rather disturbing was that someone in our group realized that he had left his jacket at the restaurant (during breakfast) after we have already checked out and left the hotel. Called back the hotel to check and was informed that they were unable to locate it. You would not have expected such an item to be “disappear” in a 4 or 5 star hotel. So, keep your own items or valuables carefully.

Beautiful and relaxing, taking care of the environment with amazing sites to sit, hear and observe the jungle! Amazing stay! The spaces and decoration are a perfect invitation to relax and forget any other thing than the beauty of the location. Rooms have the perfect size and they are clean and well decorated. Food at both restaurants is very good but service could turn quite slow if there is high occupancy.
I would highly recommend people to stay here. I saw other 5 star hotels but nothing compared to the beauty of this place. It is only 10 minutes away from town, but taxis are quick and cheap.

The hotel is in the jungle but we had no problems with bugs etc. the blocks of rooms are connected by wooden bridges on the 2nd floor and umbrellas are provided at either end just in case of rain. The bathroom is fantastic, great shower, separate bath and toilet. Very good breakfast. The trails were not what we expected. Reception will organise taxi if you want to go to town, 120 pesos return. Don't exchange dollars in the hotel on the official rate restaurants in town will give you US$ 10 to 1 at the moment. Evening meal is a little more than in town but about the same by the time you factor in taxi fare.
