Not easy to find, best to get a taxi there. Lovely gardens, and pool. Nice staff but limited English. Private room, at the front of the hostel... quiet, decent size, locker for valuables, aircon, comfy bed. Cons: window very flimsy, not convinced its gonna be any good if someone was going to break in, came open on its own a few times. Breakfast was rubbish, and never any left. Kitchen facilities terrible, go out to eat!

Room Tip: Careful walking back at night, alone. Dark, quite street out of the way of other people and traffic.

Stayed in the hostel for four days whilst visiting the falls. The hostel is a 10 minute walk from the bus station. The hostel is basic but very good for the price. Booked through hostelbookers. It has a pool which is great after a long day exploring. The room we stayed in was near to the reception but still very quiet, room was a very small double, WiFi is good, bathrooms could be cleaner, breakfast had a good selection -eggs, coffee, cereals, cake, bread etc. Staff could be a bit more friendlier!

I barely ever write these reviews… but seeing how poorly people have been rating this hostel for bad weather and power cuts, I couldn't help but try and correct the situation!

Because of the reviews, we avoided going to this hostel when we arrived in Puerto Iguazu until we had no other option. But when we arrived we wondered why? Good prices, very friendly staff, a pool (essential), a huge poolside breakfast (cornflakes, scrambled eggs, fresh bread, spreads, watermelon, oranges, biscuits hot drinks and cake - remember this is the land where crackers and coffee are the norm!!), nice clean bathrooms and rooms, kitchen, parilla, TV room, good WiFi AND close to town and the bus station.

What more could you need?

Garden Stone Hostel is quite a comfortable place, however, this January was harsh due to the hot weather and its consequences.

What I liked the most was the helpfulness of the staff, who at all times aided me find my way around and organizing any visit I might be interested in -even a walk around town. The dorm room was comfortable, especially because they could put more people in and they don't; on the other hand, we were requested to limit aircon use due to the electricity problems but this did not bother me -found it reasonable.

The bathroom's cleanliness could be improved, as they can get all wet easily due to the number of people sharing it. Otherwise, you can get a towel at the hotel. Food and supplies you can get at walking distance.

I would recommended for backpackers or people travelling on budget. The ambience is ok, but if you are going family or couple, it might let you down.

Room Tip: Slept at a dorm and found it quite ok -not much to choose in that category.

When you book they promised: private parking, wifi in bedrooms, aircon: Well private parking non existent. Park the car on the street. WiFi non existent in bedrooms. Only the tiny living room which gets full of people trying to find a place to plug laptops. Airrcon: only allowed in the night otherwise they wrote a tiny note tht you have to pay 20 pesos for turning it on out this time. Very poo breakfast. Coffee, sour oranges, stale cake, overcooked eggs. No fruit in the tropics!! Tiny uncomfortable beds, hard matresses. Tiny bathroom, you can hardly sit on the toilet. The hostel is a mosquito place. Nice gradens the only thing.

Wife and I stayed here in a private air conditioned room late December 2013.

First impressions: it's a nice peaceful property with lots of beautiful greenery. The room we stayed in was to the right of the reception as you enter, and felt more private than the rest of the hostel. There is an open air communal area next to the pool, which was cleaned every day we were there.

Pros:
- Very friendly and helpful staff
- Chilled beer and cold water for sale at reception
- Decent breakfast selection with eggs, toast, breads, cereal, milk, coffee and cookies
- A communal fridge where you can keep your own drinks cold
- Resident cat / kittens

Cons:
- Very basic indeed, you'll need to buy your own soap, shower gel and shampoo
- Frequent power cuts, which meant the AC wouldn't work
- The shower was electrically heated, so power cuts meant we had to take cold showers one day
- We discovered a dead cockroach in our room the day we were checking out
- A little bit tucked away from the town centre, which made walking back a little tricky during the power cuts

My husband and I stayed here for two nights in a private room. We arrived early, but there was no room for us so the owners very kindly called around the local hostels until they found a private room for a similar price. This was very helpful as it was 10.30pm and we were tired and new to the town. It's a five minute walk to the bhs station, but it's located in a quieter part of town, which we really liked. It's still only a few minutes walk from the restaurants and bars, and Puerto Iguazu is a safe place. The hostel has a beautiful garden, and is very peaceful. It was very quiet at night. The breakfast included fruit. The rooms are clean and have cheerful character. We bought some Mate, and the owens very kindly showed us how to prepare and brew it. I thought that the whole hostel was clean, including the kitchen and bathrooms. We felt very much at home, and I would recommend this place to anyone wanting to visit the falls. I have rated it as excellent for the hostel bracket.
