“An absolute gem!”
Reviewed 26 January 2014

What a gem this place is! I stayed at Secret Garden for two nights and have absolutely no hesitation in thoroughly recommending it. John is a fantastic host, very knowledgeable and informative. We especially enjoyed the chance to sit and chat to John, and his other guests, every evening over his excellent caipirinhas. The rooms are spacious, clean and very comfortable and breakfasts are high quality, with fresh fruit salads and lovely home made jams. John is the ultimate host, giving us a tour of Puerto Iguazu when we first arrived, booking restaurants and arranging transport for our trips to the Falls (and airport transfers) at very reasonable rates. Our driver for the two days, Juan, was exceptionally good, facilitating all the border crossings and making sure we re-stamped our tickets for a cheaper park entry the next day. Thank you, John for making our stay so enjoyable.

John and his secret garden are a unique experience. He is the consummate host and the reason I love B&Bs. He was informative, helpful and welcoming. He provided me with valuable information long before we arrived. His staff -- Daniel, Soledad and Alberto, his wonderful driver -- were top-notch. With his happy hour we were able to meet our fellow guests and share experiences and laughs. John's help even extended beyond our time with him. I feel truly blessed to have found him and absolutely recommend him to anyone lucky enough to get one of his three rooms.

We recently traveled to Iguazu to view one of nature's wonders - we stayed,at the recommendation of friends, at a wonderful B&B. The amazement of seeing Iguazu Falls was more than balanced by the experience of staying at Secret Garden. John Fernandez, you are truly a gem. Your knowledge, assistance, company and friendliness way beyond anything we could hope for or expect from a B&B host. Now I understand why you have achieved such acclaim. I can now recommend Secret Garden to all who want an outstanding accommodation experience while visiting one of the most outstanding natural wonders of the world.
Thank you John. I look forward to returning to Secret Garden, and I hope that someday you will be able to visit us in either Uruguay or Australia so that we can extend to you the same warm hospitality we received.
Cheers
David Williams.

Room Tip: The establishment is small. Ask John what is available. He is more than obliging.

We arrived early via overnight bus from Buenos Aires (Sept, 2011), and John accommodated us immediately. The room was bright, spacious, and clean, with a large window looking out onto a lush garden. After settling into our rooms and washing up, John gave us a brief tour of the town and dropped us off where we could see intersecting rivers form a natural boundary between Paraguay, Brazil, and Argentina as well as catch the bus to Iguazu National Park.

In the evening, John invited us to join him for an aperitif and also provided some small bites as we sat back for a lively and engaging chat. He also helped us pick a restaurant for dinner and made reservations for us.

Breakfast the next morning was flavourful, with all sorts of jams and jellies with fresh pastries, toast and fruit. Later, he even gave us a ride back to the bus station. The service was definitely over and above expectations!

We stayed two nights.
John is a fantastic host. care and help you with whatever you ask.
He arranged our trips to the falls, even on the Brazilian side.
The rooms are perfect. The brakfast is perfect and the free drinks at 07.00 PM made interesting discussions with people from all over the world.

We had a lovely stay here ... The owner, John gave us some great tips on where to go and what to do. He gives up his time to show you around and make you feel at home. Cocktail hour every evening is a great time to meet others. I would recommend this little b&b to friends.

We were met at the bus station and after dropping our luggage John drove us around Iguazzu and pointed out places that might suit our eating desires and places we might like to explore. He then dropped us at a delightful restaurant for lunch and we walked back to the B&B.
Our room was large and comfortable opening onto the deck embraced by the lush tropical garden. John joined us for drinks pre dinner and I must say we enjoyed his company immensely.
We only had 3 days to explore and our pleasure was maximised by the very good advice we received each day.
I cannot sing the accolades of the Secret Garden enough......a treasure recommended by a friend and one of our fondest memories of South America.
