We just got back from a three night stay at the Secret Garden B & B and it was fantastic! Of course the area and Iguazu falls are incredible but John (the owner) was extremely helpful and went out of his way to ensure a great time for all his guests. He had great restaurant suggestions and ideas to enhance our vacation. The rooms were cozy & clean, the garden was beautiful, the breakfast was great and the staff were sweet - you would be crazy not to stay here. Each night John and his guests have the opportunity to sit down and share stories over a glass (or two) of a yummy drink called Caipirinha (watch out they sneak up on you!) I have travelled around the world and would say that this was definitely one of the nicer travel experiences.

We recently stayed at the Secret Garden for 3 nights and had a wonderful time. The Iguazu Falls are spectacular, and the Secret Garden provided a comfortable oasis to retreat to at night. As numerous other reviews have described, John offers guests caipirinhas (and delicious bruschetta) every evening. This provided a great forum to relax, meet other guests, and exchange travel tips on the falls and beyond.

After happy hour, John arranged for a group table at Acqua, a nearby restaurant that has great food. As a vegetarian, I was pleased with their many veggie options (try the palmito salad!). John was also helpful in arranging cabs to and from the airport and falls.

The room itself was comfortable and clean. We were also pleased that the Secret Garden offers fast laundry service at a reasonable price.

The only things I would change about the Secret Garden would be to (1) expand the breakfasts beyond toast and jam and (2) provide shampoo in the rooms. I know it's a small thing, but now that airlines don't allow liquids in carry on luggage, I rely on inns to provide shampoo, which most do.

A final tip: If you make it to the Brazilian side of the falls, don't miss the nearby bird park, which has a breeding program and offers a sanctuary to birds rescued from poachers. It's a wonderful opportunity to see toucans, macaws, and many other dazzling tropical birds up close!

Although we stayed only one night in John's property, we have had a lots of impressions! Two active amazing days around waterfalls, one beautiful evening on the terrace surrounded of green plants, cosy room, excellent breakfast, but - most of all - John and his guests, conversations between different nation guests; all together makes an excellent atmosphere, one can only enjoy it bearing in mind only one thought: what happens now, is something really great!!! Thank you very much, John!

I do recommend "Secret Garden" to those who travel to Iguazú, except family with small children. We travelled in Argentina for two weeks and staying in "Secret Garden" was one of the nicest memory in our once-in-a-lifetime trip.

First: It is not a traditional hotel. It has only three rooms which are specious and cosy. It has no TV inside because actually there is no time to watch TV!

Second: It has a very nice atmosphere. The owner John organizes evening get-togethers which make the guests familiar with each other.

A great choice for your stay in Iguazú.

A Secret friend is what the owner , John Fernandes, is, because he helped us so much. And, oh yes -- the place is great. It's intimate and beautiful and cozy and all the things you'd like in a far-away nature trip. John organized everything quickly for us -- had a car and driver at the airport to pick us up (the extra charge for this and other drivers was very reasonable) and served some delicious appetizers with (tropical alcoholic) drinks when we arrived.

Prices are fair; rooms not fancy, but very nice, and whole thing placed in a beautiful, tropical garden setting. Introduced us to his other, interesting, guests. Even included a free drive through tour of the town of Puerto Iguazu (remember, this is the Argentinian side) when we arrived. And he won't nickel and dime you. It has only three rooms -- adds to the intimacy. A great find!

We had a wonderful time at the Secret Garden. John is an attentive and gracious host. The rooms were large and very attractive. The grounds are full of plants and birds. The Secret Garden is located near Iguazu Park. We took the city bus for a few dollars. The breakfasts were filling and Maria (the cook) always made me hot chocolate as I'm not a coffee drinker. Evening, though, was my favorite time. All of us travelers and John got together and relaxed. Conversations flowed and so did the drinks. When we left, we left feeling like friends.

We spent 3 nights with John in November and had a marvelous time. The rooms are large, simply, but elegantly, decorated, bed very comfortable, and great shower pressure. Extremely comfortable in general. Breakfast was very basic (toast and jam), but the coffee was excellent. We toured both sides of the falls with a private driver arranged by John, and while more expensive than taking public transport, we figured that it was worth the cost for the convenience. On the day that we did the Brazilian side, we were also able to stop at the bird park (worth it if you only tolerate birds! it was a totally fun way to spend a couple of hours!), and then go on to spend a few hours at the Argentinian side before returning back to John's. Our driver, Ruebens, was great. Cocktails and snacks in the evening are a great way to end a day and meet some interesting people.
