My friend and I stayed with John for two nights in October. John is one of those people who goes out of his way to make sure everyone is OK and having a good time. His B&B is delightful and even has a resident humming bird. The first evening we arrived it was G&T's on the terrace and there we sat chatting away whilst a humming bird came and drank nectar a few feet away - I was blown away. Maria and the other two ladies who help John are lovely and make a fab breakfast with home made jams - I think one of them was passion fruit. They can even wash your cloths for you overnight for a small fee. The three rooms are really nice and very clean and they have a shared veranda overlooking the lovely garden. You are a stroll away from the town centre and there are some good restaurants nearby. We went to the Pizza place by the river one night which was very good and the setting is brilliant for sunsets. You will need to take a taxi to get there though - John will book you one. John also has a friend who can also take you out for a day to visit Paraguay, the Bird Park and the Brasilian side of the falls - we did and it was well worth doing. This is the place to stay in Iguazu -

This B&B ticks all the boxes for comfort, helpfulness of host, accessibility to the falls, cleanliness of accomodation and overall customer satisfaction. The owner, John Fernandez, could not have been more obliging and welcoming. He collected us from the airport and helped us plan our 3-day stay in Iguazu which made it truly memorable. The rooms are gorgeous and very spacious, and the homemade breakfast jams in the morning are a treat. John knows what the customer wants, (freshly made cocktails and cold beer from the fridge are a definite plus!), and I would strongly advise anyone travelling to Iguazu to stay here. Note: The Sheraton in Iguazu is the most unsightly hotel I have ever seen!

We were staying in Buenos Aires when we heard rave reviews about John Fernandez's Secret Garden B & B. We emailed John and he was extremely prompt in responding to us about not only availability, but all other facets of our trip to Iguazu. He was extremely hospitable, gracious and above all, helpful to us. John has a love for nature that I appreciated so much. He and his staff are devoted to their guests from the time they enter Iguazu until the time they leave. His garden is lush and beautiful and populated with interesting birds and life. The room was clean and beautiful, just perfect for us. Cocktails at 7:30 and great conversation, what more could we ask for? The Secret Garden will never be forgotten by me, nor will the beauty, not to mention the falls.

A stay at the Secret Garden operated by John Fernandes is like staying with a good friend who happens to also be a great concierge. If you are Spanish challanged like we are then you are in especially good hands. John not only made us feel at home, he also made all arrangements so we were able enjoy the Iguazu area thoroughly. He even loaned us binoculars so we could go bird watching. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and stylish. We also appreciated the wireless internet connection.

Secret Garden is an excellent choice if you stay in Iguazu for a few days. The friendly owner picks you up at the airport, shows you around and helps withe whatever services you might need in terms of taxi, car rental, restaurant etc. The three rooms with en-suite bath (book early!) are located in a small tropical garden behind his house. Excellent breakfast and personalised attention. Given the usual temperatures and humidity in the region, a swimming pool would be an asset!

Everything that has been written about the Secret Garden is true. John is an excellent host, it is relaxing, they have a wonderful porch/deck, the rooms are comfy and the coffee/homemade passionfruit jelly are excellent. By the way, John is getting a Jack Russell Terrier, sure to make a lively addition to the household.
Good luck and Thanks John!
