Reviewed 9 July 2012

Barely worth the free green fees. Slow play. Nothing worth looking at on the course

“Good course,for average golfers.”
Reviewed 23 April 2012

This course is right beside Westgate Resorts in Mesa. The course is nice and flat with a few water holes but not a lot. The first hole is a par 5 with water on the right side of it. Just set up to hit down the left and you will do fine. It is a par 71 and a good challenge for all types of golfers. Greens are nice and clean. Sand bunkers are ok. As I said a good place for the average golfer to play. They have a great deal that includes a steak dinner also.

“Lovely course, pleasant staff, many golfers”
Reviewed 31 March 2012

We joined Painted Mountain at the beginning of last year, and have had two years as members. We love this residential 18-hole course. It is easy enough for a new golfer(me) but has greens challenging enough for an old hand (my husband).
We offer only two caveats: 1) there is no marshall, so if play is slow, there is no recourse and 2) they put out a lot of golfers, so the course is crowded and can have its slow moments during high season (Jan - March). Having said that, though, Painted Mountain is able to keep its rates lower than many similar courses because they do accommodate a large number of golfers. The views of Red Mountain are lovely, and the bird life around the water hazards is fascinating. There are a great many peach-faced love birds that call this area home - you won't see them anyplace else unless you go to Africa. We would recommend this friendly course to anyone. There is an attractive restaurant, but we have not eaten there yet. They offer a very reasonable golf-and-steak-dinner combo.

“GOAT PASTURE! ... worst value I have experienced in a long time!”
Reviewed 28 February 2012

They take your money, pack you out there, no marshal = 5 1/2 hours, barely a yardage marker in sight, tee yardages are a joke! .... stay away!
