This is an old Hampton Inn that is being refurbished as a new Jaffotel. We had already paid for the room so, even though we were a little put off by the location, we kept an open mind.

There is not yet a new sign on the hotel identifying Jaffotel, so we drove past it several times. The parking lot is shared with a strip mall that includes a restaurant as well as a business for drug and alcohol counseling. We found this very concerning. There is also a sign at the entrance of the parking lot for WIC (I do not know if this is something from the past or for the future). We asked the front desk if the parking lot was safe and we were told they could not guarantee and are not responsible.

We went to check in and the front desk staff were very friendly. Our room was average but comfortable and clean. The furnishings are all new. Our room overlooked the pool. We pulled back the sheers to look out and realized that the pool was so cloudy that you could not see the bottom. Since the pool and hot tub were one of the main reasons we chose this hotel, we went to ask staff about the situation. Staff again were very nice and said they were closed tonight but would be fixed in the morning. After 8 days and 7 nights, the pool and hot tub are STILL out of order. The front desk offered to refund part of our money for the inconvenience but could not when they saw that we booked through Hotwire. We contacted Hotwire directly and were told they do not guarantee their hotels and would not help.

The hotel is still under refurbishment. Workers are polite and as quiet as possible. However, the entire third floor is currently under construction.

There is a free hot and cold continental breakfast each morning. It is very good and the food varies each day.

There is only local television channels and HBO with an option to buy movies. We were surprised because even the most inexpensive motels have cable tv.

The rooms are cleaned daily but we found that the longer we stayed the less they cleaned. Also, bedding was not changed once in the 7 nights we stayed.

The morning of one of our last days we were asked to move our car because they were going to pave the parking lot. We were very thankful to staff for letting us know thinking we had been warned before work began. We were horrified to find they had sprayed tack all around our car and had started paving!! Surely some advance warning to customers would not have been the first order of business and not difficult.

I think this hotel has the ability to succeed or fail. Unfortunately, at this time, I think they are already on the way to failing.

Room Tip: Odd number rooms overlook the pool. Even numbers overlook the strip mall and parking lot.

We really enjoyed everything about the hotel except the construction going on and that it sits in the same parking lot as a strip mall. The rooms are completely revamped and have a microwave and refrigerator. The beds were really comfortable. Not too soft but not too firm either, ight in between. The pool is heated to 85 degrees and the Jacuzzi was perfect size if there is more than one family out there. The continental breakfast was better than most we have had. Cheese omelets, bacon, sausage, waffles, bagels, 4 different cereals, assortment of muffins, oatmeal, and fruit. They also have Orange juice, cranberry juice, milk, coffee, tea, and hot chocolate. Now for the bad. If you have a room facing the freeway you really hear the traffic pick up around 6 a.m. but with the a/c running it didnt wake the kids. The hotel is also sitting in a small strip mall which made us have some concern for our belongings in the car. The girl at the desk said they have never had a problem but with a restaurant/bar at one end and a massage parlor at the other end we saw some sketchy looking people in the parking lot. Other than that the location is perfectly located right off the freeway. I would recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: if you are a lite sleeper ask for a room opposite the freeway or on the North side.

We stayed at what is now known as a Best Western, and had a blast, first the staff is excellent and very attentive to all our needs, I would have gave a 5 star, but there was construction on finishing up the rooms. We were transferred from the third floor to the forth floor on our second day, and it was comparable to "Chinese fire drill" as we called as kids, but everyone bent over backwards to accommodate everyone, there was a few bugs to work out and fixed very promptly. As far as Breakfast, what is everyone expecting, a full service sit down waited on meal, get real!! This is a good continental breakfast with waffles, pancake, muffins, some eggs and usually a meat, there is also cereal, yogurt, toast, and fresh Fruit. I have stayed were there was less and it never changes, there was a little difference each day and was very good! The heated pool and Jacuzzi was very clean, as well as the rest of the property. I really want to go back so I can in good faith give this Hotel a 5 star when all the remodeling is finished.

Room Tip: Room with King and sofa was roomy enough

This is no longer a Hampton Inn. I wanted to give everyone a heads up just in case they are booking it through a certain travel sites. I could not tell you how the actual hotel was, other than it was under construction and it is close to the highway (the 60). Not excatlley the best area in Mesa.
