We got upgraded to a large and comfortable triple room. Very large bathroom and good beds. A top end place at midrange prices, strongly recommended if you stay in Salta la linda.

This hotel was okay. The overall look/feel was dated, and the room we stayed in was not quiet--the two major walls were glass doors so there really wasn't much insulation from noise, or between floors. I'd say not having a quiet place to come back to or ability to sleep in on our 2nd morning due to noise was our biggest issue.

On the good side the staff at the front was very nice and helpful and spoke good english, the location of the hotel was nice, a couple blocks from the main square (unless your priority is to be as close to the greatest concentration of bars/music shows, then there are much closer hotels), and the price was very, very affordable. Staff also surprised us with a bottle of champagne to celebrate our honeymoon and that was really unexpected and greatly appreciated.

Also worth noting was the hotel was mostly full of much older couples during our stay--not sure if that is all the time, or there was a large tour group, but did not see any other young people.

I thought the no credit card policy (cash only) was fine. There is a street full of banks of the main square and there are many ATMs and places to change cash. They even had a citibank and it was not hard for us to get cash to pay at check out, which we did the morning of our departure from an ATM. Exchanging US from one of these banks does take much longer.

For who I am and what I'm looking for I'd stay somewhere else next time, but I think this hotel probably has its place in the market as an affordable, not too many frills option appealing more so to maybe an older clientele or budget minded traveler.

Good place but nothing special. Unluckily they don't accept credit cards and in salta if you are short of cash it can be difficult to withdraw money, there are only two banks in the center, long queue.

We spent a few days in this hotel and we enjoyed it very much. The hotel is located ideally for visiting Salta as well as for touring in the region. Rooms are clean and each one is unique, due to the history and the complicated design of the hotel, built around courts and corridors. Beds are good and breakfasts are top quality. On the top of that, what makes a real difference in the Hotel del Antiguo Convento is the staff: a team of young and clever boys who demonstrate a gift to always antiicipate your desires and fulfil your needs. A ***** service!

This is a beautiful hotel. Lots of lovely little courtyards etc. Rooms are well appointed with air-con, heaters, wifi, cable tv and lots of little niceities like embroidered towels and shower caps. But, the best part is the staff. Nothing is a problem. They are all super-friendly and helpful. On our last day we were given a free late checkout til 1pm! The only minus is that the rooms can be a little noisy, depending on where you are in the hotel. Other than that, a great place to stay. We've been there a couple of times.

Stayed here for a few nights and really enjoyed it - very comfortable, excellent staff, and good location with short walking distance to the main square. This place has a lot of character and would definitely recommend it.

One of the more expensive places that we stayed in Argentina but great value all the same. The staff are very friendly, helpful and speak good English while the hotel itself is beautifully laid out and decorated. The breakfast is of the usual variety but is at least served rather than given in a buffet. There is wifi too and a pool at the back. The centre of Salta is 5 minutes walk away and the town is very safe with an obvious police presence to keep it that way. We loved it. I will have to say that there was a slight issue with dampness in our room. The damp came from the bathroom where there was inadequate ventilation to clear water vapour quickly thus allowing it to seep into the room. It wasn't a major factor for us but noticable all the same. Perhaps the right setting on the aircon could help alleviate it but better still would be for the hotel to install some sort of extractor fan. Still, only a minor blemish on an otherwise fabulous hotel.
