“average, but very good for the region”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 July 2014

Basic and relatively simple, but well heated hotel with clean rooms, comfortable beds, hot water 24 hours (in this part of the world this is a big plus) an) efficient staff. You need to have some basic knowledge of spanish though, as their command of english is almost non-existent. Very basic breakfast like anywhere out here in the middle of nowhere.

Room Tip: Make sure you reserve well ahead

It is a very simple and clean hotel, the best and almost onliest in town. Managed by local and very friendly people, we did not try lunch, there are a few places in town where to go. After a travel to SAC plenty of dust and wonderful scenery, it is a good reward!

Hotel is very simple but I guess in this kind of area you are just happy to find one! Staff is very limited (limited to a poor woman who is struggling with all the customers at the desk, bar and restaurant). There is nothing to do in the area at night, we were happy to have a very slow, but still a, connection to Internet... You have to try the bife de chorizo with a bottle of Malbec :-)

This hotel at the end of the world at an altitude of 3750m is almost the only choice in this mountain town in the Andes. We arrived after a long and dusty roadtrip through the beautiful scenery of the mountains and plains. The hotel is staffed by local people who are friendly and know there job. A nice reception area/restaurant with comfortable chairs and sofas and wifi that works!
The rooms are simple but functional. Everything works and is there. The small bathroom had a shower that worked well. No airco but you don't need that at that height
We had dinner in the restaurant, that served good and fresh food. There also is a bar with all kinds of drinks
We slept well and enjoyed the rather simple breakfast before we drove down to Salta again which was a beautiful trip with stunning views
If you want to go all the way up to this this place near the end of the tren de las nubes, this certainly is ok and advisable, also for spoilt people like ourselves
The town itself has not much to offer, but is an interesting experience to see how people cope in these harse circumstances

Ten large rooms quite simple but comfortable and clean in this little village at 3750 meters high...
The service is friendly (they only speak spanish ; as usual in Argentina, don't pretend to find people regularly speaking english or french, or...).
The restaurant is good too and the food tasty with fresh products, which could be surprising, knowing that you have to drive a long way to come here.
The breakfast is ok, not the best we had but it was hearty.
The place is amazing and the area too : You have to come from Salta to see "el tren de los nubes", the landscapes and the guanacos, the viaduct at 4200 m high, and then drive to Salinas Grande and further to Purmamarca, along all theese incredible scenic (but gravelled on some parts) roads.
Beware, it's the only hotel in town with this quality level, so if you want to stay here, make a reservation...

After driving over the Paso de Lipan (4,100m) coming from Purmamarca and visiting Salinas Grandes (restaurant was closed here) we were happy to have a reservation at Hosteria de las Nubes in San Antonio de los Cobres where we were served cold beers and some sandwiches upon arrival to quell our hunger pangs. The rooms are simple but very clean. Best of all was our dinner. Our Swiss friends were amazed at the good quality of the steaks and the salads in such a forlorn place.

We drove from Purmamarca thru Salinas Grandes and stop in San Antonio de Los Cobres, road was a dirt road, so stopping for a shower and hot meal was great. It's a nice and clean hotel. If your planning to stop here be suer to have a reservation, not many rooms and hotels in town. And learn some spanish, this is a small town, so it'll be hard to find English speaking people
