“Decent hotel to explore the Peninsula”
Reviewed 19 February 2013

This hotel is a decent place to stay when exploring the local area. There is nothing majorly wrong with it, but based on the accommodations I could only give it an average rating. The pros: it's in a good location relative to the town of Puerto Madryn, the lobby is nice and the breakfast is actually very good. The major negative would be the rooms. They are basically what you would expect in an American motel, and could use some updating. We did have a view of the beach, but I will say that I was glad that we had excursions planned and used the room only to sleep. Overall, it's a good option, but you should set your expectations before arriving.

Negative; bad coffe for breakfast, low quality breakfast,a bit of everything, a bit small and old rooms, But Well cleaned and taken care of.gym is small, better to run along the shore outside.

We spent 3 nights at the Peninsula Valdez in January 2012. It is very conveniently located to the center of Puerto Madryn with restaurants and shops near the hotel. There is a grocery less than a block from the hotel. The room was nice with okay furniture. The staff was VERY helpful with a difficult situation with precooked tours. They made all the calls and fixed things for us so that our stay was great. The breakfast was nice with eggs, breaks, fresh fruits, cereals, and many sweet rolls. It was more than adequate--really quite good. We would recommend this hotel even though there had been several less than positive reviews in the past. Puerto Madryn is a small beach community for most people who want to visit the peninsula or Puerta Tombo--both of which are very long tours over long travel roads. It certainly offers an opportunity to see a different side of Argentina.

We stayed in the Peninsula Valdez for 5 days. Got the suite on the 8th floor, with sea view.Spacious room, bedroom could be separated if needed, big bathroom and a good sized terrace. Furniture not the top on the design scale, but rustic and functional. Good bed. At first there were no deckchairs on the terrace, but just asked and here they came. Service was excellent and professional, and at the same time personal and warm. Once we missed breakfeast, no problem, got some extra time. Felt like family.
I had lost my glasses (and had a suspicion that they were in the rental car that we already had given back). And our flight back was already at 7 a.m., so no way to get in touch with the rental car service. The receptionist took care of everything, found not only the glasses but also found out that the owner of the hotel would be in Buenos Aires two days later. So I got my glasses hand delivered.
Such experiences of helpfulness make my day. They show that the hotel is led with a big heart.

If you're planning to book a room in this hotel, just be careful. The standard room it's not a 4 star room,at least for european standards. The bed is small and not very confortable, the bathroom is really small and furniture are really, really old. At least, the wifi worked well! Although is very well located, and the staff is super friendly, I think it's overated for what it is.
