I had a great stay in that hostel. The rooms were clean and equipped with personal lockers to keep valuables safe. The atmosphere was great due to one breakfast table where everyone sat together and organised dinners e.g. barbecues for little money. The host was nice and helpful with information about what to do in and around puerto madryn. Due to his many contacts we were able to do special tours for a lower price or rent a car with a group of people from the hostel making it cheaper for everyone:)

This has been one of the best hostels we've stayed in. We were given a really warm welcome by Gaston and were fortunate to be able to check in to our room early.

Our room was gorgeous, large, bright, with a big uber comfortable double bed, a fridge, a kettle, a TV and plenty of storage. It must be the best hostel room we've ever stayed in I think!

The shared bathrooms were modern and clean and we hardly ever had to wait to use them. Showers were powerful and hot.

Wi-fi was free and quick and the location was good, about a 20 minutes walk from the bus station and just a block away from the coast and bars and restaurants.

We enjoyed a fantastic meat asado one night and prawns and salad on another evening cooked by Gaston with some help from the wonderful and friendly Leyla and Arthur who were working there at the time.

There is a separate common area in the garden where people can eat together and there are also some computers and a climbing wall and also more kitchen facilities there. This is really good as if people ant to continue drinking they can do so without disturbing people who are trying to sleep in the main building.

The garden is also nice and there is a bar that serves beer.

The vibe was really friendly when we were there and we met some great people.

Breakfast was one of the best we've encountered in South America yet, cereal, tea, coffee, biscuits, fresh bread rolls with a selection of jams and dulce de leche spread.

Gaston also arranged two tours for us, one to the Peninsula Valdes and one to see the penguins which we enjoyed. Brilliant place would highly recommend and stay there again

We stayed here for a couple of nights and could easily have stayed longer. The host Gaston is one of the friendliest and helpful owners I have met, always around for a chat and to help with tours, transport, etc. The bunks are comfy and have warm blankets/duvets, the bathrooms are like those in bathroom showrooms and the place is spotlessly clean!!

We stayed at Hi Patagonia for 6 nights in one of their private rooms with a private ensuite and we loved every minute of it! From the moment we arrived at the hostel, we felt like family. Gaston and his staff were incredibly friendly, kind and thoughtful. They were easy to talk to, and offered invaluable information about things to do and see. Gaston even cautioned us away from certain excursions (i.e. Punto Ninfas) since it was later in the season and he didn't want us spending money and be disappointed if we didn't get to see elephant seals.

The room was basic but very clean and incredibly comfortable with a king sized bed. The bathrooms looked newly renovated. The hostel was also very quiet, which was important to me, since I am a very light sleeper. I really appreciated Gaston reminding people at breakfast to talk quietly so as not to disturb people sleeping in adjacent rooms. There is also a garden with a hammock and bar which is fun to hang out and meet the other people staying at the hostel. The location of the hostel is phenomenal, being only a block from the beach and close to a butcher and a veggie/fruit store so you can pick up groceries to do your own cooking.

Of course, one of my most favourite experiences at Hi Patagonia were the asado bbqs. This is a MUST! The asado was absolutely the best my husband and I had had in Patagonia and I really recommend it. We literally had it every night it was on. I also liked the fact that Gaston offers cars for rent at comparable rates to other rental companies in Puerto Madryn. This was extremely convenient and made exploring the Veldes Peninsula and Punto Tombo super easy.

Hi Patagonia is one amazing hostel, which didn't really feel like a hostel but more like a family member's house. I recommend it to everyone traveling to Puerto Madryn!

Thank you so much, Gaston, for the wonderful stay!

We extended our stay from one week to two because we found the hostel so nice.

Right by the beach, 20 peso taxi ride from the bus station, close to shops, good wifi, secure front door to which you had your own key, very clean everywhere, always toilet paper, soap and hand towels in all of the bathrooms, kitchen had enough food storage space on the shelves and in the fridge, breakfast was served on time everyday and Gaston was there to answer every single question thrown his way.

The asado every other night was fantastic, very popular as was the sea food night which was the alternating nights. The staff; Isaac, Luca and Ali (sorry about the spelling) were always really friendly and smiley. Overall very professional, relaxed, well organised and a well thought out hostel. We stayed in dorm number 1 which you could lock the door of and each of the four beds have a locker with a padlock hoop (however one locker is high up so unless you're quite tall, maybe you'd only use it to put big stuff in if you were staying quite a while). Our dorm was small but comfortable with good beds, real pillows and duvets with nice clean white sheets and bed covers.

Overall the hostel is quiet during the night - I suggest having dorm 1 or 2 so that you're at the front of the house with only some traffic noise rather than at the back where you may be able to hear what's going on outside in the courtyard if the asado carried on into the night. Breakfast was good with tea, coffee, cornflakes, biscuits, crackers, brown & white rolls, pre-toasted bread, three different jams and of course, dulce de leche.

Gaston is a great hostel runner, always really friendly despite being rushed off his feet all the time. I highly recommend, thank you to the team, we wish you all the best.

Room Tip: Choose dorms 1 or 2 looking over the road rather than the back where rooms look over the courtyard and hostel bar.
