Was here on business for 4 days. Very clean and taken care of, it is about 3 miles from downtown, but close to the airport and casino. The staff were very friendly and I enjoyed my stay. Will definatley again
- Free Wifi
Soft comfy bed, very clean, thick towels. Excellent service.
What a delightful surprise to find such a hotel as El Olivo, conveniently placed for tourists who are using Neuquen as their jumping off point to or a return point from the wonders of western Argentina. Less than 10 minutes by taxi from the airport, the hotel is clean, modern (with free Wifi) and welcoming with an excellent restaurant, “Zico”. Owners, husband and wife, Horacio and Vicenza and their staff are friendly and helpful. English speakers will get along quite nicely. You can tell that the price is right when you see the many businessmen who choose El Olivo for their stay.
Normally, hotels near bus stations are pretty grim, but Neuquen's smart terminal has this smart 21 room place just 100 metres away. It's not therefor ideal if you want to be downtown, which is about three miles and a 20 peso cab ride.
Rooms are grouped around a little courtyard with a mature olive tree. They are quite small but well equipped, with flat TV,air con, en suite with good amenities including hair dryer, and ample hot water. I was in a standard single with a single bed.
Staff were friendly and helpful. They called me a cab, loaned me a laptop and plug adapter. I don't know if they speak English.
The included breakfast is OK. THe area is a bit of a wasteland and I ate in-house in the evening and the meal was pretty good. Seems to be mainly business clientele.
There is secure parking, so this would also be quite a good option for those travelling by car or who have picked up a rental vehicle at the nearby airport.
Downtown Neuquen doesn't have much to offer the tourist apart from the art museum. If I had had more time I might have tried to visit one of the vineyards at Chañar, although I don't know how easy that
is without one's own vehicle.
Anyway, all in all not a bad deal for around $50US. .
