“Peaceful Sailing to the Arrayanes Forest”
Reviewed 11 October 2013

This is a great way to sail if you are over 25/30, I guess: a peaceful and quiet trip on a small motor boat to the Arrayanes forest. On the way back to Villa La Angostura, Nicolás, the captain, serves a typical Argentinian "picada," which consists of fresh bread, delicatessen and snacks with some drinks, all of which come as an unexpected treat.
We travelled with another family in a friendly atmosphere. The whole trip takes about three hours, and the great thing about it is that Nicolás takes you there before the large boats with high schoolers reach the forest, so you can enjoy a relaxing walk, take photos and drink a cup of hot chocolate at the tea house there, where you can also buy souvenirs.

“Spectacular 2 Hour Breakfast Cruise on Lake Nahuel Huapi”
Reviewed 1 March 2013

We were interesting in doing this 2 hour breakfast cruise organized through our resort (taking up to 9 people) on Friday morning, but the forecast was for rain, so the receptionist organized a private cruise for the 5 of us on Thursday morning (same price). Nicolas (our captain) is really lovely, and speaks good English. As we hadn't yet been to Bosque Arrayanes (a rainforest walk in the national park, which most people do by boat one way, and walk out the other (13kms), Nicolas said he could take us their. We had perfect weather, the scenery's spectacular, and as luck would have it, I'd brought my ipod with me, so Nicolas plugged it in to his radio system and we had beautiful background music ... surreal! The walk in the national park is only 800 metres if you aren't walking out, and we got there before the boat loads of people from Bariloche and Villa La Angostura, so we got to do the walk in private. Back on the boat and Nicolas set the table up for breakfast ... lovely croissants; a couple of varieties of pastries; almonds, walnuts; and freshly squeezed orange juice, with tea or coffee ... absolutely perfect! A memorable morning was had by all, and Nicolas recommended El Mirador for lunch - best restaurant views in the area, so our perfect day continued (reviewed under restaurants). This is a great way to spend a few hours on the lake. You can book with Nicolas directly as he has a website, or perhaps you can have your hotel organize it for you, as we did ... however you decide to do it, make sure you do ... you won't be disappointed. Thank you Nicolas for helping to make this day so memorable.
