The best thing about this resort is it's position on Lago Nahuel Haupi ... absolutely stunning. The second best thing is the staff, they are super friendly even though most of them don't speak much English. I had a conversation with one of the male receptionist via google translate on his computer, good fun! There are activities throughout the week that you can participate in if you feel up to it, and many things planned for kids (if you have them with you). We came at the end of the peak season, first week where school went back, so it wasn't overflowing with kids, which we were happy about ... been there, done that, don't need to go there again.

The apartments themselves are very small and compact, and the lay out is odd. We had a 2 bedroom apartment for 5 of us. When you walk in the door there is a bathroom, then you go up some stairs to a small lounge, dining, kitchen area and tiny balcony, up some more stairs to a small queen size bedroom and a bathroom next to it, then up some more stairs to an open bedroom (no door for privacy) and 4 single beds. The beds have wooden slates at the ends, so are not really suitable for an adult male. All 3 people sleeping in the single beds got backache, including the 12 year old in our group, so we would say the beds must dip in the middle. The adult male pulled a muscle in his hip because he tried to turn over in the middle of the night, and his feet were between the wooden slates at the end of the bed, since the bed was too short, so when he turned, his body moved, but not his feet that were wedged between the slates, and there went the hip! Had to put the mattress on the floor after that. The queen size bed was fine. You don't spend a lot of time in the rooms, so you make do with the space you have, but it was really cramped for 5 people. The kitchenette is certainly not designed to encourage cooking, with a tiny sink, 2 hotplates that you are warned you are not allowed to cook anything fried on, and a small fridge and bench space. We did manage to cook a few things despite the lack of kitchen facilities ... it helps having a chef in the family! We tried the restaurant for breakfast, which was standard and okay. We tried the goulash for dinner one night and it was pretty mediocre. We also had room service one night and it was also average. They serve your room service food in plastic take away containers, which is pretty poor I thought, plates would have been nicer. Chips in a plastic container makes them go soggy and well you get the picture. The swimming pool is a good size, kept at around 29 degrees, and our group enjoyed being able to use the pool. We also went for a kayak on the lake which was nice, and it cost 40 peso per person for one hour.

We took a 2 hour trip on a boat that was arranged through the resort with Nicolas, and this was a highlight. Although the resort organizes a 2 hour breakfast trip for up to 9 guests on one day through the week, they will organize a private trip for you as well if you want ... not something you know about unless you ask, and like I said it was a highlight and for 5 of us, cost the same as the resort trip that takes up to 9 people. You can also organize a trip yourself with Nicolas, as he has a website, it's bahiabrava.com and worth every cent - he's great and speaks good English ... I reviewed the trip separately if you want more details.

Overall we loved our stay in this incredibly beautiful and pristine area. The resort however, does need some TLC. Things around the place are a little rundown, and for such a large place, maintenance should be continuous.

Room Tip: I think only the 2 bedroom apartments don't give total privacy (doors on all bedrooms), so if yo...

Booked here for a week and stayed for 3, so it is fair to say I must have liked it. The area is really quite stunning. All of the best hikes are either in the immediate area or one short free bus trip away.

A few useful tips - the ATM almost never works. You need to bring cash from Angostura. But only if you want to buy stuff external to the resort as they just run a tab for everything that you pay at the end. It is 1 hour different to Osorno. That seriously took me 2 weeks to figure out. It is extremely expensive for Argentina, but fairly standard for the lakes area. The place is a tad run down (balcony dirty, tap didn't work, small holes in the wall) but not in a way that bothered me. You need at least some Spanish.

In saying that, I loved it. It is just in a great position on the scenic lake. The rooms are huge, stocked with the usual timeshare get-up and have private balconies looking over the lake. It is pretty hard to beat really.

This was a timeshare swap and have to say the best rci resort we have stayed in. The resort is located on Puerto Manzano about 5 mins drive from the main town. There are a number of resorts in this area as well as a store and some restaurants. Many of the restaurants nearby and in the main town seemed to be closed in the evening as there were very few tourists around either because of the time of year or we suspect due to the effects of the volcano. Although the effects of the volcano are evident, the resort has cleaned up really well and they are diligent on keeping standards high. Dependent on wind direction there is ash in the air, evident from the film left on your car and some lesser roads that we travelled were still quite badly affected. However the main roads and the town are constantly being cleared and the improvement in just two weeks was outstanding. The rivers are still incredibly beautiful, although some of the lakes still have ash on the surface and at the edges. We had already confirmed the resort before the volcano errupted and did consider changing however we were both really glad we didn't, I would still highly recommend this area and in particular this resort.

We had a two bedroom apartment overlooking the lake. The view is outstanding from the balcony and living room. The apartment is on four levels so if you are not good with steps think again. Also quite a few stairs in the resort. The staff went out of their way to help, particularly impressive as most did not speak much English. We ate in the restaurant on a number of nights and can honestly say they were some of the best meals we had during our stay.
We were primarily there for the fishing and there are some outstanding rivers and lakes open for public fishing with a permit. The local fishermen were very helpful sharing advice and flies! All in all it was one of the best holiday's we have had, ash or not!
Don't discount this as a holiday option because of the media.

Stayed at BM last December. Switched cancun timeshare for it. Weird floor plan, multiple floors! Heating tiles kept room comfy at night. No air, but plenty of breeze off Lake Nahuapi. Lake is pristine a mecca for fisherman. Most people there are regulars. Restaurant iis top notch, Tell Santiago I said hello! Free moring hikes are good. Boat cruise to "Bambi" forest is worthwhile. In Andean foothills, sking in SA winter.

Summer 2005 (Southern Hemisphere), my wife, my 5 kids and I went to Bahia Manzano, a Resort close to Villa La Angostura, in Argentine Patagonia. It is located in the northern coast of Nahuel Huapi lake, and has some of the most beautiful clean nature views I remember.
The Resort is very comfortable, we were located in the new part, called the bungalows, with lake view, and a little terrace to enjoy the fresh air or "asados" or Argentine barbecues.
Plenty of activities (fishing, trekking, bycicling, swimming, golf, tennis, etc.), as I entitled this review, is a place close to Paradise.
