Disappointment at Pudu Hostel

One night during our stay, the guy (Thomas) who worked 6 days a week at Pudu Hostel had a little too much to drink and tried to kiss my girlfriend. Hardly, professional or respectful, I'm sure you'll agree.

On checking out, I told Thomas that I wasn't happy with what had happened the night before. He played dumb to the entire episode, showing little regret.

He added that maybe my girlfriend and I had a strategy to try and get a reduction on our stay. In the end he knocked 400 peso off our 1600 peso bill. It wasn't really about the money for me, more to do with his lack of a sincere apology.

Also, the morning after, Thomas woke up at 10.45am to serve the brekfast. Now, breakfast time was 8am-10am and one of the other guests had to go into Thomas' room and wake him up. We had brunch that morning.

As a women, maybe give some serious thought before you book a night at the Pudu Hostel.

Cleanliness - as a traveller I don't expect the world. We stayed in an 8 bed dorm with its own bathroom. The room was dirty, the bathroom was disgusting. The lock on the bathroom door was terrible & i was locked in for 20 mins, when the guy on duty decided the solution was to kick the door in, before trying the spare key from the other side?!!

The guy on duty in the morning was rude & not willing to discuss the lack of cleanliness of the rooms/bathroom issue.

For the money you pay for a dorm bed, I think it's terrible they expect travellers to put up with dirty conditions both rooms/bathrooms & kitchen. I think their attitude while we were there was, it's high season, people can pay through the nose & we'll give them a dirty hostel, they have no choice - not on! I would find somewhere else to stay.

Stayed in a private double room that was clean and had great views of the lake. The kitchen, bar area, and garden were great places to chill and the staff were very friendly. The breakfast was unfortunately poor. Wifi is only strong on the floor where reception is. It's not quite as good overall as Tango Inn a few more metres down the road, but it is better value.

We loved our stay here, rooms are great. Comfortable with amazing views. Due to the bus strikes we stayed a few days extra and Tommy was very helpful and called the bus companies to find out info and he reduced the price of our room over the few days. Good location, very glad we stayed here!

My boyfriend and I stayed at Pudu for three nights just before Easter. For the first night we arrived late in the evening and stayed in a grim twin room, but for the following two nights we moved to a very nice double with gorgeous views of the lake. Room was clean and shower powerful and warm.

We found Thomas and the other staff friendly, kind and helpful, quite the opposite of some of the other reviews.

Location is good, but is a bit of a struggle up hill with the backpack!

Downside is the terrible breakfast. Stale bread, cheap jam & horrible coffee. Cereal ok. Come on guys - sort it out or don't offer breakfast!!

we had an amazing stay at Pudu hostel. The owner Tommy is a real nice guy and gave us lots of info on the town along with and English girl Kathryn and an American couple who work there. Simple room but amazing views the hostel has a gret vibe and good kitchen and bar ! brekfast is good cereal was a treat for us as so far weve only had bread and jam in Argentina for breakfast !
only down side the lockers in the room wernt that great but they did have seperate lockers in the lounge with plug sockets inside to charge your phones/cameras etc.
