you have to walk a short way uphill but the view is worth it and it is still very close to the city centre. the room was quite big. they have a dining room, a small garden and a fantastic living room with a view over the lake. i also loved their self made bread for breakfast. it is privately owned and not one of those chain-hostels! absolutely recommendable!

It's sad that this was the first hostel on our trip because it's going to be hard to beat. The staff were friendly and attentive from the first email, and everyone that was staying there seemed to be very similar types of people - slightly older backpackers and very open and chilled out. Asado night was heaps of fun, and great value at 55 pesos for heaps of meat, salads and wine. Our room looked out to Lago Nahuel Hapui and was very warm. The kitchen was incredibly well-equiped too. Highly recommended!

This place is old and very very small, the location is ok but the hostel itself is disgusting.
The eating area includes 2 tables and almost no room to sit. the room is very small, not clean, they don't take out the garbage from the bin in the room. generally not recommended.

My boyfriend and I stayed at Pudu for a week over the Christmas period during a 3.5 week long holiday throughout Argentina and Brazil. Pudu was the only hostal we stayed in during our trip choosing to stay in premium hotels in larger cities. However over the festive season we wanted to be in a social environment rahter than sitting by ourselves on Xmas day in a face-less corporate hotel. And we were not disapointed.

Pudu is a fantastic medium sized hostel made up of several mixed dorm rooms and three double ensuite private rooms. We choose a private double room on the ground floor. It had a huge panaramic window overlooking the small garden and then onto the lake and mountains in the back ground - what better way to wake up in the morning! The room was small but fine. Could have done with some hanging space or a couple of hooks on the walls as this was a little tricky only having a couple of small shelves. The room could also have done with a lick of pait and the bathroom as pretty damp but really I am just niggling. The room was very reasonably priced.

Brekafast was also included which was made up of fresh baguette and a selection of jams and dule leche - an absolutly fine start to the day.

The main heart of the hostal was the bar and comunal area. The bar had three locally brewed beers as well as sprits and soft drinks. They ran a system by where a tab was set up for the bar as well as any trips or activities so you could just pay at the end - a very nice touch.

Pudu is a little gem in the beautiful town of Bariloche. The rooms are all great - all with stunning lake views (honestly, the sunset view from my lake was hard to beat). The kitchen was probably the best I've come across in the whole of my travels - it was large and a real social hub and encouraged me to cook rather than eat out every night! The asado every week truly is fantastic - the steak better than in some restaurants I tried. And the built in bar area is fantastic - great beer, encourages people to socialise. I can't think of much wrong with this hostel at all! The owners are charming too.

Lovely hosts create a friendly atmosphere which is picked up on by all the guests - we found everyone staying here was friendly too. Rooms have beautiful views of the lake. Good location. Hosts give good travel advice. The nicest place we stayed in the whole five weeks we were in Argentina.
