Green House Hostel Bariloche
Reviewed 5 January 2013

We stayed here for two nights, the hostel is in a great location 4.7k on Bustillo. It's a bright and spacious hostel, we had a twin room which was a good size with a shared bathroom which was well designed; separate bathroom for men and women with two showers and two basins.

Breakfast was basic but as good as anywhere else and the kitchen was well set up.

Notably the hostel was spotlessly clean.

The service that we received from the team at the hostel was good they gave some fantastic advice on a walk to Frey which is well worth doing and were really helpful with taxi bookings and restaurant reservations.

Room Tip: We stayed in room number 3 which is a double room but has a sofa bed in it so we were able to use it...

This hostel is 4km out of town, a quiet place with view over the lake. Greenhouse is close to a supermarket and more important: the national park! The staff provides you with a buscard so if you like you can be in town in a few minutes. We rather walked to town since it is a nice walk along the lake.
But there is no real need to go into town since the hostel has a great common kitchen with even a (pizza!) oven. Trails in national park all starts at this side of town. The staff is very friendly and helpful, explaining about all the trails, buses and bike rentals.
We stayed in the appartement upstairs, a nice room with private bathroom and private small kitchen (perfect for making coffee and lunch). The appartement was AR$240 per night during x-mas. A good price. We stayed for 7 nights and really enjoyed it.

We stayed in Greenhouse over my Birthday. Brian and candy couldn't have been nicer. We had the upstairs double room which was lovely, we had a small kitchenette, which we didn't use as the downstairs kitchen was so great! We also had great views of the lake and a small lounge to chill out in just outside our room.

I can't recommend this place highly enough. It's clean and has great communal areas with use of 2 computers.

What a lovely place! Small hostel, full of atmosphere, immaculately clean and beautifully decorated, with lovely touches like fresh flowers in the bathroom. Brian and Santiago go out of their way to be welcoming and friendly, the communal area is a great space and the kitchen is good too - you can use the oven as well as the usual gas hobs. Great value and really charming, thanks for a very memorable stay

We spent over a week here and on top of the great atmosphere, nice outdoor deck, well equiped kitchen, the crew who ran this hostel and Pudu Hostel down the road were probably the most helpful and generous people we dealt with after 8 months in South America. We had surfboards which we had left in Buenos Aires but realised we weren't going to be returning as planned. The staff helped us on the phone organising a shipping company to deliver our boards to Bariloche which was far beyond our Spanglish ability. The Greenhouse Hostel is super chilled, close to Cerro Catedral for mountain biking, climbing and trekking (or skiing in winter). Theres a little secret beach down the front with even a few boulders to climb on if your into rockclimbing. Every now and then they throw an incredible Argentinian style BBQ too. Wish I was still there!

Called the day before coming to Bariloche with a group of 6 other friends. We were welcomed with arms wide open and treated like family. The owner was extremely helpful from the start, quick to give us any advice when needed and always providing us with the best suggestions to suit our wants! Really couldn't ask for a more helpful, friendly hostel owner/staff.
KITCHEN- If you like to cook- This is the PLACE for you! My group of friends and I havent cooked or eaten this well in a whilee...purely because the kitchen is soo welcoming. With the breqkfast, coffee is also really good.
ROOMS- Cozy rooms with very comfortable beds. Also, possibly because the hostel has such a family vibe, security in the rooms was not an issue whatsoever. Felt vey safe personally and for my belongings. The rooms are also very clean.
BATHROOMS- Seperate male and female bathrooms. From what I saw in the girlsroom it is always spotless and has good facilities. (Bathrooms are actually quite pretty)
COMMON AREA- Seated in the living/dining/kitchen area there is always an environment of muy BUENA ONDA (great people/vibe) as great chilled out reggae music accompanies you throughout your day.
EXTRAS- Great promotions for excursions such as bicycle rentals with Cordillera are available through the Hostel also (our experience with Cordillera was also amazing).
N.B.- All you excursionists better be weary! This place is has such an an amazing relaxing environment that you too may even feel to pass your day in the hostel lounging in a hammock on the terrace!...
Without any hesitation I suggest you stay in the Green House Hostel if you really want to experience a new level of hospitality in the Hostel industry.

If time had allowed, my buddy and I would've stayed here much longer. The two guys running the place are incredibly helpful. I couldn't find any info on if Cerro Catedral was open for biking, so they called the resort and when it was found they were closed, they called a few bike companies to find a company renting trailbikes and who would shuttle us to the base of the Refugio Frey trail to ride. They had suggestions on where to eat, what to do, how to have the best time in Bariloche. Rooms and shower were fantastic too. One tip is it is a ways out of town, but I appreciated that fact as it was quiet and no trouble to get a bus to go into town when we wanted to. Would come here and only here in Bariloche.
