“One of the top five best meals ever”
Reviewed 21 November 2013

Made reservations on the internet before we left. We were one of only two couples dining at the 7:45 seating. Too bad for those in Bariloche that evening that missed this experience. While locals like to dine at the later seating, the early seating lets you enjoy the beautiful view from the restaurant and the gorgeous sunset over the lake. When we arrived we were told our table was ours for the evening and we would not be rushed out for the second seating, not that we were every rushed. Service was excellent. There is little I can add to previous reviews, just reinforce what has already been said. The other couple dining was from New York City and their comment was, "better than Per Se." The entire restaurant is run by Chef Edward, his wife and their friend. They do a great job. Edward did come out to say hello as we were finishing our meal.

Portions are just the right size. Not too small, so you feel cheated and not too big so you cannot finish the meal. Only the tasting menu is served. They do ask you if you have any allergies or dislikes and appear to modify the menu if necessary.

I have not seen the price of the meal in any of the reviews, which I am sure changes. I will quote it for you, as it also does not appear on the website. During late October 2013 it was 390 Argentine Pesos per person for the tasting menu. There is a wine flight to accompany the dinner, but it did not interest us. Instead we ordered a bottle of a very nice Malbec. As mentioned, they only take cash, but they do accept US dollars. While it might seem expensive, we paid in USD and found the meal to be a great value compared to what we would pay in the US.

If you are fortunate to visit the city of Bariloche you want to eat here one evening.

“Best meal of our 2 week trip to Argentina!”
Reviewed 6 October 2013

This was one of my favorite dining experiences in years! The restaurant is very small and intimate and is geared towards foodies and others who want to really soak up the dining experience. The food is the star here and the coursed meals are what the dinner conversations are about. It's not for those who don't want to focus on the dining experience. Our server and sommelier was AMAZING as he carefully selected a wine pairing with each course, explained why he selected the wine and then would describe in detail the incredible food we were about to put in our mouths.
I loved every minute of the evening there and highly recommend this to anyone who seeking an incredible and memorable dining experience!

“UNFORGETTABLE EXPERIENCE!!!”
Reviewed 17 September 2013

Not only is the food which is excellent ...

The service, the wine, the whole gastronomic experience is divine.

Of course all this costs a little above average, but it is a value that is compensated by the excellent food and experience.

I believe that a visit to Buttetfly is obligatory for those who go to Bariloche.

“Sheer joy”
Reviewed 2 September 2013

Reserved this after reading about it in the Rough Guide and was not disappointed with the seven course meal that was laid out by Edward (chef) and would definitely rival any 3-4 star restaurant here in the US especially for the price. The service was impeccable as well as the lamb shoulder (which I am still drooling about). From what I understand the menu changes depending on what is available locally. Definitely make a reservation and let your taste buds take part in sheer joy.

“Quite possibly the best dining experience of our lives!”
Reviewed 19 August 2013 via mobile

My husband and I have been traveling around Argentina enjoying some of the best food of our lives on our honeymoon. We were lucky enough to get a last minute reservation at Butterfly last night and are so happy we did! It was pouring rain and dark so we couldn't see the view from the restaurant, but it sits overlooking lake Nahuel Huapi. The restaurant is small and very cozy. We sat at a table near the crackling fireplace to warm up and dry off. We were greeted by the chefs wife who was so welcoming and didn't mind the fact that we were soaked to the bone!

Sebastian, the sommelier and part owner also greeted us and explained the 2 different wine pairing options - the introduction for 180 pesos or one with top wines for 300 pesos. We opted for the introduction and were not disappointed. He asked about the wineries we visited in Mendoza and gave us wines from new wineries we hadn't tried. All were delicious and perfectly paired with the food.

We loved the concept of the 7 course "surprise" tasting menu. Everything was delicious! My husband was a chef for 10 years and loved the creativity of the chef here. Even though they were busy, the chef came out to greet us at the end of our meal and was so nice to talk to.

We had such a wonderful experience here and might even go once more before we leave Bariloche!
