“Superb Hospitality”
Reviewed 6 November 2011

We only needed a hotel for 1 night as as town was very quiet of tourists we decided to shop around. We looked at several hotels including the renowned Llao Llao Hotel and El Casco - both empty and both rather stuffy, over formal and somewhat above themselves...not good hospitality in my book. We opted in the end for Charming. What a good choice! The hotel even put up the Union Jack amongst its flags in prep for our arrival. Great location on the lake with a fatastic vista. The rooms were well equipped, very clean and had sauna, steam and spa baths. I travel a lot and my biggest bug bear having curly hair is that none of the hotels have a diffuser attachment on the hairdrier well accept Charming- well done Charming you have met my global challenge!!! The pool area is lush with a pool wonderfully warm, great view and facilities. Breakfast was good as was lunch. But the real clincher for me was the passion for hospitality and pride of the product from Alberto the owner mirrored by his team. No it doesnt offer the turndown service people expect at a 5 star but a) who wants curtains drawn on that view and b) turn down is sooo 'last year' we can all pull back our own sheets surely!??! Excellent stay and worthy of its current no.1 rating. Gracias!

Dear Guest, I completely agree with the need of having a good hair dryer! Thank you for your kind review. Being personal and firendly is our moto. Sometimes finding a balance between friendly hospitality and five stars formality can be a challenge. Your review encourages us to keep on working in the same way we already are. Thank you very much. Sincerely Tiziana

In many respects, the worst possible time to visit Bariloche, with a grey cloud of ash from the nearby Chilean volcano periodically obscuring some of the magnificent scenery, became the best of all times to visit because the locals so appreciated us for making the effort to drive to their (currently) airport-deprived destination. And nowhere was that welcome warmer than at this lodge, charming by name as well as nature. The manageress Tiziana rolled out the red carpet and made it clear right from the outset that she and her staff would do anything in their power to make our stay enjoyable. Just opening the door to our suite was start enough. Ours wasn't the best suite at the resort but it had its own jacuzzi with stunning views over the lake and snow-capped mountains, its own sauna and the most wonderful shower we have ever experienced. Not only did it come with multiple settings but it also was fitted with variable mood lighting and a steam aroma incense outlet that meant every sense - bar taste - was indulged. It was pure decadence but, hey, we deserved it. And the attention to detail was stunning. Just a flight of steps away was a heated pool and there truly is something magical about starting one's day with a swim as steam rises off the water. Up in the restaurant, the food and service were divine and although we had a wide range of other eating houses within easy reach, we found ourselves dining there almost every night. Every dish was cooked to perfection. So how good was Charming Lodge? Let me put it this way. I arrived with my partner. I left with my fiancee!

Room Tip: Book with hotel direct. Every room comes with stunning views. You can't go wrong.

Myself and my wife booked a Master Suite at this hotel for a few nights - it was absoluelty perfect. Everything about the place was fantasic; the service, the view, the rooms, the pool. It was the best hotel room we've ever stayed in - it had a two person jacuzzi overlooking the lake and snow-capped mountains, a wet sauna, a dry sauna, not to meniton a bed big enough for about 5 people!!

The staff were very friendly and spoke perfect english, the breakfasts were good and the dinner menu is limited but what we had was nice and seemed quite good value for a five star hotel restaurant.

Becasue it was out of season we got a very reaonable price which just made the whole experience even better - the hotel is on a small cliff overlooking the lake and has private access to the beach.
Must be one of the best places to stay in Bariloche!

I decided to visit this hotel as part of a ritual to relax. Although it was very hard to get to Bariloche (the airport is closed) I couldn't be happier with the Hotel. It was so perfect: everything was so clean and new, the view was fantastic, the room had everything i needed. It is amazing how they pay attencion to details. I recommend it to couples on honeymoon and peoplee who like the best. Th ehotel is exactaly what it looks like in the official photos... I hope to get back as soon as possible

My sister and I are visting this hotel this week (July 10 - 17). Unfortunately the volcano has disrupted travel to Bariloche and on top of that, there is no snow so the ski resort has not opened yet. Lucikly there was snow last night that covered the mountain and hopefully snow today and tomorrow resulting in the chance the ski resort may open on Saturday! Aerolineas Argentina is flying into Esquel and busing people up to Bariloche. It is only about a 3 hr car ride so it really isn't bad. Somewhat similar to the situation in Banff Canada or most of the resorts in Colorado. But with all that said, the hotel owner, manager, staff and dog pacho have made our visit absolutely delightful! Our room has a fireplace, Direct TV, dry sauna, steam sauna and jacuzzi tubs so we have spa day everyday in our room. We had a spa treatments in our room a few days ago and I had the best stone massage. The resort is directly on the lake and you can walk on the shore. The pool is heated and we have thought about swimming followed by dry sauna by the pool, maybe tomorrow. The food at the resort is wonderful, you must try the lamb roll and ribs! We are heading up to the mountain today as you can take a gondola to the top to have lunch. I will definitely consider a return visit.

Room Tip: All rooms have great views but make sure you get a room with Saunas and Jacuzzi. (I think deluxe or...

We stayed here for two nights in November. This was one of the best hotels we stayed at during our trip to Argentina. The staff was incredibly helpful and so attentive. We missed our first night due to a LAN strike and we showed up nearly 24 hours late....at 9:30am. They brought us straight to the restaurant for breakfast (knowing we had been up pretty early), gave us the best seat in the house then upgraded us to a full suite (ie: the entire house!). After our flight and a terrible travel experience the day prior, the "little things" made such a positive impact to our vacation. We have already sent many friends here and no doubt we will be back!
