“Spectacular setting and accommodations in the Andes!”
Reviewed 13 June 2011

This place is rated as one of the top resorts in all of South America. The setting and lodge are gorgeous. The place is nestled between the snow topped peaks on a beautiful lake near one of the largest national parks in Argentina. It is a bit pricey, but worth the experience--nice rooms and wonderful service. The only downside is the food...good but very expensive. The morning buffet breakfast is a good deal and excellent. Many good restaurants not too far away. The town of Bariloche (about 20 miles away) is a bit chaotic and touristy, so try not to stay right in town if you can avoid it.

Room Tip: Ask for a lakeview in the main lodge.

The hotel is like a upscale lodge with beauty everywhere. The grounds were manicured and the pools were delicious. The spa was very upscale and the gym was alittle stuffy. Unfortunately, we were not able to take advantage of all the classes offered. The room was clean and pleasant and the bathroom was adequate. I think every room had a view of the mountains or the lake and the grounds. We took played on the golf course and it was very resortlike with some spectacular views.

A Unique resort not only in Bariloche but also in the whole world.
Unbelievably beautiful landscape with autumn colours and an impressive French Style building interiorly refurbished for XXI century first quality vacation.
The excellent service provided by all of its personnel made our stay unforgettable.

When you first walk in to one of the "leading hotels in the world", it's view and charm seem breathtaking.....then you get to your room. Ours looked like an old person's room. I went to take a bath and when I drained the tub it started coming up out of the drain next to the toilet so we had a bit of a flood. I went downstairs and told them and they fixed it right away. Our dinner was pretty good and our waiter that night was the most friendly and helpful person at the resort. There was a lady at the concierge desk who was also very nice but everybody else seemed strange. It seemed like nobody ever smiled and you had to flag down the waiters in the main lobby area for a drink. I actually had to walk up to the bar which was fine but I was expecting the worlds "leading hotel". it is pretty far from Bariloche.....about 25 minutes so know this before booking. We moved to the design suites hotel and were amazed by our room which was about 700sqft and had a jacuzzi tub in the corner of the room overlooking the lake. It was a little under 200.00 per night and we were close to the town's center. Oh and if you go know that they pronounce it "chow chow" and not "lau lau". I wouldn't recommend it to any of my friends but I would recommend it to older people who will enjoy the golf course, view and the resort's early close every night.

One of the best hotels I`ve ever been too, for sure among my top five !. An historic building in a breathtaking place, facing a lake, mountains and a great golf course, what else you can ask for?
Service was above average, although not excellent, we had a minor complain during our stay, but after a couple of months when I close my eyes remembering that piece of heaven, I can`t even remember about this little detail.
Hope to come back again, again and again. Trust me, one of those amazing places difficult to find.

The room rate at this hotel is expensive. We stayed in a standard room, which looked much larger than the picture on the website. It was in the old Bustillo wing, which we thought was more convenient for the swimming pool, and restaurants. The room was quiet and clean with a good selection of the hotel's own lavender toiletries. One disadvantage was the lack of air con. We were able to open the windows which had mesh to stop insects but as the weather was very hot a/c would have been good.
Although the room rate was expensive the food and drink was about 25-50% of the cost of a similar hotel in the UK. The glasses of wine were very large-one was more than enough. Breakfast was good, although the cooked selection was small if that is important to you. The breakfast room was crowded on weekend days.
The hotel is about 30-40 minutes out of Bariloche, so not a great base for exploring the town, and slightly further to the airport. We only saw Bariloche briefly but I did not feel I missed much.
What I enjoyed most of all about the hotel was the scenery. Set between two lakes almost every room has a lake view. The grounds are incredibly beautiful. We enjoyed the free activities programme. There was something for everyone, guided hikes, bike rides, indoor and outdooor aerobic sessions, windsurfing lessons, bird watching, tango lessons and yoga. I'm sure I have forgotten some.
With the onsite scenery, the activities programme, canoes to borrow and a lovely indoor outdoor swimming pool we never left the hotel except for occasional hikes in the area. I'm sure we missed stunning scenery but we were very happy to rest for a few days on a busy tour of Argentina.
If this hotel were in the UK, or even Europe I would come regularly. I am glad to have experienced it and would recommend anyone touring Argentina to try to stop off here.
One complaint- as in many big hotels the price of water is ridiculous. Bring some. Argentinean airlines don't have the liquid rule, and there is a small grocery near the hotel to top up.

The location, of this hotel is probably one of the most beautiful in the world, all the facillities are also a very big plus, the swimming pool has stunnig views, the breakfast was rich and tasty (fresh juices, pancakes, waffles, eggs...), they should watch for the COFFEE wich was horrible, really undrinkable...
the service is amazing, everyone overthere is extremelly polite and careful, the minus of the hotel are the rooms, we took a suite, upgrade from the lake view room and when we got to the room we got really really disappointed, the room was old style, big, but they dont invest in the rooms at all, it only had a small window, ok facing to the amazing lake, but still small...I wouldnt sleep there again, you can have all the views just going to the llao llao area, the 500 dollars we spent a night we could easy spend a third on another hotel and use the money for something else...
I would recommend this hotel if you are 50 years plus,if you like the status that a place can give or like to be around rich people...
