“Abit overprice...”

The hotel is really wonderful however it is overpriced unless you stay at the hotel and enjoy the activities. The rooms are deceiving. the food is incredible. the service is really good. How you can use the money you paid? easy...stay at the hotel. You can have many classes, excursions most of them for free (included in the price)...etc they have a very nice pool, gym...and they have happy hours. free whiskey and all others half price. trust me you can make use of the money...

I stayed at the Llao Llao around the beginning of September with my parents. The hotel seemed to have a good shuttle bus service. The arrival to the hotel was an experience in itself. The view was breathtaking. The hotel is located on a mountain overlooking mountains and lake on every single side. not one side of the hotel doesn't have a view.

The hotel was full of Brazilian and Venezuelan tourists. Mostly for a convention for Ford that had the main ballroom and restaurant (Los Cesares) closed. We were extremely disappointed because the only other restaurant was the Patagonia which didnt offer much variety or quality in food. perhaps i wouldn't complain except that to get anything to eat you have to drive a good distance around foreign roads (snowy and icy too, given the time of the year). The service was good, especially in the bars/rest, amongst the younger men and friendly for the most part, except that the concierge was a bit stuffy. One concierge woman even told my father sarcastically, when he complained about the closed restaurant during out stay, that next time she would cook for us in her house.

The room, although clean, were small and mostly uncomfortable (Standard rooms) my parents slept in a queen size bed, while i slept in a pull out sofa. The windows are tiny and barely let enough fresh air in. However the grounds are a lovely place to walk, they do have activities, one of which was a painting class. it wasn't much of a class. the young man teaching was my age (23) and well my mother and i were the only pupils. my mother and i basically painted as we knew how and asked him questions.

their pool is lovely. it an infinity heated pool, and with the 30 degree weather, it was lovely to go from the indoor portion to the outdoor for a quick swim.

the crowd around this time of the year (winter) is mostly pretentious (rich south americans of other countries such as venez. and brazilians). Summer brings a different crowd of people, mostly european, americans, and argentinians.

the rental car next to the hotel was overpriced and limited.

All in all, the 350 a night for the standard room and no good restaurant to eat, wasn't worth it regardless of the view. if you want to enjoy the llao, visit it by bus, but stay somewhere else where you can eat better and feel more comfortable. perhaps everyone's priority is different, but when im vacation i like a spacious room and good food!

my sister stayed at "El Casco" with her husband and small handicapped child. it is a ritzy, loungy type hotel more modern and smaller in structure, but with gorgeous spacious rooms, some with private balconies. it is also located closer to the center of the city of bariloche

unlike llao llao which is far away from any sense of reality. (which would be good were the hotel better equipped for comfort)

oh and dont be surprised if during snowstorms you lose power here and there. the blackouts are for only a couple minutes, but they do happen.

But Bariloche is beautiful! the most beautiful place on earth, especially in the winter. please go! And take picture with the st bernards!

We went with my grandparents who have very high expectations after years of staying in excellent hotels and yearly trips to Bad Ragaz. The overall feeling was that the hotel was not of a good standard and was over priced. My grandparents stayed in the new wing which has very nice rooms but they found it unmotivating the distance from the rest of the hotel. The quality of the rooms in the original building (we stayed in the lake view room) was not of the quality of a 5 star hotel. The food was not as good as it was said to be. We were a bit suprised to see that horse riding was not incluided as an activity given the marketing photos on the website. The best part of the hotel is the location and beautiful scenary. We took bikes and did walks into the llao llao national park which was fantastic. The sauna and showers are also very good.

We stayed for 3 days withy my wife on Dec 26th -29th. We have been travelling to Switzerland and Austria for many years and been to most of the grand hotel's there (Gstaad's Palace, Badrutz in St. Moritz etc) We felt it surpassed any of them. The rooms are just ok. the window with the lake view was there but you couldnt see out from bed. But the rest is simply spectacular. The hotel is the trademark of Bariloce located between to lakes with backround to steep Andean mountains. The indoor/outdor heated infinity pool was perfect. The views from the lobby are unique and they probably make the best Belini in the world. The range of (free-actually included) activities is impressive. They give you mountain bikes, or kayaks or yoga or archery etc etc. It is a kids paradise. All of the concierge's recommendations were perfect. If you are in the area you MUST have at least lunch in Las Balsas in Angostura with a 5 or 7 course degustation menu on the lake. We highly recommend Llao Llao and we totally agree with people saying that this is probably the best hotel in Argentina

We had initially planned to avoid staying at Llao Llao b/c of some negative comments we'd read about the service [one of the guidebooks said the service was stuffy and sometimes rude]. This was not our experience -- the service we encountered throughout the hotel was great and not at all stuffy or rude.

The hotel is very well located for driving the Circuito Chico and the views from the hotel are spectacular. However, because the hotel is a landmark built in a national park, there are restrictions on what can be done to both the exterior and the interior. As a result, many of the guest rooms are comfortable but dated in terms of layout. If I were to stay there again, I'd request a room in the new Moreno wing, which opening in 2007.

A nice feature of the hotel: they offer a free shuttle service from the airport in Bariloche, and have an on-site Hertz location. Therefore, you can take the transfer from the airport and pick up a rental car when you're ready to explore the area on your own.

Bottom line -- we were glad that we listened to our travel agent and gave Llao Llao a try. We spent a very pleasant 2 nights there.

Nothing less than fantastic in every way! The property is gorgeous, the staff can't do enough for you, and the food is great! There's lots to do on premises, and they can help you find great things off premises as well. The bartender, Pablo, makes good drinks and is incredibly efficient. But really, just about everyone who worked there was amazing!

The scenery was great too, and even from an economy room (under $200 US), you had good views of the mountains and the lake. If you want a room with a view or a suite, I can only imagine what those are like, although it ain't cheap. The spa is also worth a visit, although try to make an appointment in advance if possible. If you can't, it's not the end of the world. I wouldn't even think of staying anywhere else.

  • Liked — The scenery and service
  • Disliked — Internet access wasnt great, but that's really nit picking.
