Juan Carlos chose a mountain hike for us that was perfect for our ability and difficult enough to be memorable. At several points we saw a beautiful white horse- on top of the mountain! The views were spectacular and so was the conversation. We learned about life in Argentina and the history, politics and economics of this incredible country, but always with humor and grace. The packed lunch was delicious especially the home-made brownies. Juan Carlos is a wise man and a lot of fun. If you have a chance to hike or kayak with him you are very fortunate.

I spent a few days in Bariloche and Juan Carlos set up a great experience. He arranged for horseback riding and fishing excursions, and personally guided a kayaking and hiking trip. He has an excellent personality and made the trip an unforgettable experience.

Our family of 5 joined a couple of others in hiking Cerro Catedral ridge outside of Bariloche. Our hotel recommended Juan Carlos. He was amazing. In every way. While Juan Carlos is a very experienced mountaineer accustomed to advanced hiking, he was comfortable slowing the pace to accommodate all of us. All the while we learned about various plants, the ridge and a bit of Argentine history.

If we were to return we would plan our trip around a multi-day hike with Juan Carlos and his team at Andemita. It was, hands-down, the highlight of our Argentina trip.

My family and I had the pleasure of having Juan Carlos as our guide while staying outside of San Carlos de Bariloche. He guided us on a couple hour hike near Lago Gutierrez with spectacular views of the lake and the waterfalls. He also guided us on the "ridge hike" from the Cerro Catedral ski resort to Lago Gutierrez, stopping for a rest at Refugio Frey. He was informative, motivating, warm, and extremely well equipped for our treks. The ridge hike was an amazing experience that I would recommend for anyone passing through. The scenery is absolutely breathtaking. We loved our time with him as much as we loved experiencing the beauty of patagonia. We highly recommend Andemita and Juan Carlos for your outdoor activities in Bariloche.

After reading all the positive reviews on Andemita, we decided to book our Refugio Frey hike w/ Juan Carlos by way of the more advanced Cerro Catedral entry point, and Juan Carlos more than met our expectations. For those considering the normal route to Frey or the more advancerd route by way of Cerro Catedral, I would highly recommend the more advanced route w/ a guide (it would have been a bit too challenging for us w/out a guide). Juan Carlos was an excellent guide as he guided us up and over the summit of Cerro Catedral, we traversed (more of a scramble) the backside of Cerro Catedral and then descended down to Refugio Frey. The views were amazing, the hike was challenging but a lot of fun and Juan Carlos was excellent leading us over some tough terrain, providing hiking tips and stopping for some great photo ops along the way. I would highly recommend Juan Carlos (Andemita) as well as this hike for anyone in Bariloche looking for an excellent day hike w/ great views and a great guide. This was definitely one of the highlights of our time in Patagonia.
