“Great for kids!”
Reviewed 29 August 2008

We loved our stay at Nido del Condor. We rented an option with two bedroom, kitchen and living room. The view is amazing. The breakfast is ok (not great), and the place is just next a really good restaurant (El Patacón). It is true what was said in another review - that El Patacón has a noisy dog that barks all night -, but that doesn't really bother if you don't stay in the apartment next to the restaurant. We were at apartment 14.

The rooms here are lovely, but that's about it. Our heating didn't work and they failed to fix it, the food was very mediocre and the hotel is about 6km out of town, so unless you have a car you're stuck. However, the restaurant next door is great! Some staff are very friendly, others rather surly. Won't be going back.

This hotel is small, but fantastic. The rooms are clean, very spacious, with modern furniture and charming decoration. All of them have espectacular lake views. The staff is quite pleasant, and the food is great. The only poblem I found was a little bit of noise coming from the other rooms at night (poor acoustic isolation).

My wife, 2 year old son, and mother stayed here for 3 days right after New Years, 2007. This hotel definitely has a lot of potential. It is a nice indoor/outdoor pool that our son loved, the rooms had fairly good views of the lake, it is next door to the Patagon restaurant, and the breakfast buffet was quite nice.

We had high expectations as we had one of the largest units and were paying $390 a night. However, the hotel failed us in two fundamental ways.
1) The water didn't work for our unit the majority of the time we were there. It would work sporadically for a few hours at a time, and then would not work at all for long stretches of time. The management repeatedly said that it would be fixed, but it dragged out across 60 hours before being resolved. My mother was particularly annoyed that she wasn't able to shower some mornings, forcing her to feel grimy and sweaty all day when we went on boat excursions. What aggravated the situation is that we could not get a straight answer from management of what the problem was/what was being done about it/when it would be fixed. We were told one time that it was an issue in our room and would be fixed immediately, but we then didn't hear from management for hours. The next time we were told that it was a problem of the city water supply (which was spurious at we soon learned from other guests that they had water). We felt like were getting the run-around, which was a huge let-down for a hotel of this supposed caliber (at the Sofitel in BA, for example, the management had an engineer come up in literally 2 minutes to solve an AC problem we had in our room and were very clear in communicating what the issue was).
2) We could not get a good night sleep as there was a large guard dog right next door at the Patagon restaurant that barked all night. The Nido del Condor site is an ungainly one- it is very narrow and deep- so it is very close to its neighbors at all sides. We asked management to do something about the dog, but the manager said she could do nothing and the issue had existed for years. I find it hard to believe that a 4 or 5 star hotel could not reach a compromise with Patagon restaurant (perhaps the most famous in Bariloche- it is where Pres. Clinton met with President Menem in 1992) about such a basic requirement for its guests to get a good night sleep.

I was deeply disappointed with the attitude of the management of the hotel when dealing with them about these issues. Our conversations were always cordial but they clearly said that they didn't consider our problems as something within their control and were rather flippant about the issues. On rare occasions we have experienced similar problems at other hotels of this caliber in the past, and usually they take action immediately (moving to a room with water, refunding a night's stay, etc) which makes it apparent that these types of problems were an aberration. The management of Nido del Condor did not do so, so I would recommend other travelers to Bariloche consider other options as I fear such hassles happen with far higher regularity than they should at a place charging such prices.

This is a first class place to stay; We stayed in a Jr Suite and it was well appointed with a jacuzzi, fireplace, king bed, etc. The view is absolutely wonderful. Highly recommended; Be sure to dine next door at least one night.

Me and my wife were in the last leg of our honneymoon when we arrived at Nido Del Condor, we were a little bit tired after a long day boat trip through the Andes coming from Chile. Everything became in sparkling smiles, when we had the best and most warmful welcome you can imagine in the Hotel. The manager, Christian surpassed all our expectations: From the brazilian music in the stereo, up to the complimentary chocolates and wine (to celebrate the honneymoon) in the room.

By the way, the room is something to highlight: it was spacious, with a splending view of the lake, is finely decorated, the bed was enormous and very, very comfortable... Our bathroom had a delicious jacuzzi which a perfect heated floor.

In the first night we had a delicious dinner in a very nice restaurant closed by the hotel (El Patacon). All the arrangements were made by the staff of the hotel. After four unforgettable days in Bariloche we were delighted with everything.

And the best: we made the reservations by the hotels.com and got an excellent rate (US$100/night).

A grande finale for a long trip!
