“Los Juncos 2010”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 March 2012

I stayed at this Guesthouse in February of 2010 with a small group of friends - I am just sorry I didn't get to review my experience until now. I recommend this guesthouse for several reasons. First, for its wonderful location just outside of town. Bariloche is famous for it's beautiful surroundings and aside from one or two points of interest, not for the town itself. For a small city there is a lot of hustle and bustle going on and it is hardly peaceful. Second, the staff is wonderful. Flavia, the hostess, is attentive and fun. She helped us with suggestions on sights to see as well as with the menu of the day. She laid out the menu and seating times for the day with a little sit down before our excursions. It was great to come back to the house and have a fantastic dinner and to talk about the things we experienced over a great glass of wine and or spirit. And lastly, the rooms - rustic, cozy and quiet - everything u need for a good nights rest. If you are not looking to be pampered (and fleeced) with room service and prefer intimate charm, this is the place to stay!

Room Tip: 2 of my friends stayed in 'Soul.' It is perhaps more like a suite than the other rooms but I...

We stayed here twice - once for two nights and once for one night. The "Welcome Home!" greeting by Flavia , the owner, when we returned for the second stay was lovely. Both rooms were beatifully decorated - each with a different theme - each had lots of lovely little touches. Breakfast was plentiful and Elisabet who served it was very friendly and helpful even though we didn't speak Spanish. The location is beautiful and whilst it is a little out of the main town there are lots of place to eat nearby and it is also possible to have dinner in the hotel (although we didn't).

Between us we have stayed at hundreds of hotels around the world for work and pleasure ranging from the Ritz to boutique hotels to bed and breakfasts; Los Juncos really stands out as one of the best. We stayed there for two nights in January and really wish we had been able to stay longer. Having arrived late at night after a very long journey, due to Bariloche airport being closed, Gaby couldn't have given us a warmer welcome. He immediately made us feel at home and even offered to cook us a meal despite the late hour.

There are five bedrooms, a lounge/dining/bar area and a garden at Los Juncos. The entire place is very nicely decorated and our room was a good size and very comfortable but what really sets Los Juncos apart is the warmth, friendliness and excellent service from Flavia and Gaby. Nothing was too much trouble from arranging care hire (so we didn't have to go into town to pick-up or drop off the car), booking excursions, providing advice on activities we shouldn't miss to restaurant recommendations for other cities in Argentina. Gaby's cooking was also great; we both left feeling a few kilos heavier than when we arrived!

Unlike your average Bed and breakfast you can relax in the lounge and get a drink at any time of day. If Flavia or Gaby are not around there is an honesty book so you can help yourself; very welcome after long hikes in the beautiful lake district.

We loved Los Juncos so much we are already planning to return in September.

The owner is very nice and helpful and the hous is very charming. Adding to this an amazing chef who is preparing a different dinner every night, Los Juncos is a great choice. Their number 1 ranking is fully deserved!!!

Getting out of the town of Bariloche was the best decision we made on our holiday to the lakes district in Argentina. Los Juncos was the perfect location to relax and get close to the natural wonders surrounding it. Flavia and her team made us feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. The inclusive breakfast of fresh squeezed orange juice, just baked on the premises media lunas and orange cake were perfect! I would highly recommend this lodge for any couple wanting a break from the norms of travel in Argentina!

Room Tip: Choose room called Aire - facing the lake, with perfect views every day!

From Iguazu Falls to Mendoza and now Bariloche. Town doesn't look much to write about as we go past it but we soon arrive at Los Juncos, our resting spot for three days. As soon as you enter the place, you feel that this is special and Flavia's friendly greeting makes you immediately feel at home. Next three days are a mixture of hiking, cycling and canoeing in the most beautiful surroundings, returning tired but totally relaxed to tea and cake baked by Flavia. Who needs to leave the comforts of LJ when you have the variety and quality of cooking produced by Gaby? In my humble opinion, perfect location for the outdoor pursuits I enjoy and beautiful garden to lounge in the sun with a book. Top quality and great value for money. Thank you Flavia and Gaby and your staff.

This is a very comfortable and friendly small hotel with excellent food and a lovely lake view. The sitting room is a really cosy place to sit with a drink before or after dinner, cooked in the kitchen by Gaby, the owner's brother. Flavia, the owner, is friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with view of the lake.
