“A must visit and stay”
Reviewed 31 January 2014

I was at Estancia Cristina in Dec with my family and or family friends. We had the most amazing visit and overnight at the Estancia. The hikes, horseback riding where just outstanding, and I am very picky. The staff was first class and the food matched. We had a perfect stay the only regret was we did not stay longer. Do the long glacier hike a must..The most beautiful and changing environment.
Get there!!!!!!!!

Room Tip: A must see and ask what to pack depending on the season.

This is a unique and spectacular spot in the world. We highly recommend staying at Estancia Cristina for at least one night. The food, service, and spacious rooms are top drawer. The guided hiking and horseback riding are included and well worth it.

Room Tip: All rooms have spectacular views, are quiet, and spacious.

My wife and I spent two nights here during our 2 week journey in Patagonia. This is a lovely place, reached by catamaran from a dock near El Calafate. The estancia was founded in the early 20th century by English pioneers, and takes its name from their daughter, Cristina, who died at the estancia at an early age. The catamaran ride from El Calafate is quite a journey. Views of gigantic icebergs, glaciers, etc. The only issue we had during our stay was that there was a big group at the estancia while we were there. This group seemed to get preferential treatment, e.g., better slots for activities, horeseback rides, etc. We mentioned this to the front desk staff and they said they understood. We were never presented with an option of a full day horseback ride, though some of the guests were given that option. Also, we wanted to do a horseback ride the morning of the day we left but the large group got first choice and we had to wait until the afternoon to ride. Also, the guest rooms did not have in-room safes. That was a pain. The highlight was the 6 hour hike through the valley of the fossils. We were driven in a van up to the glacier for viewing, and then spent 6 hours hiking down through the valley (which looked like a moonscape) down back to the estancia. Marine fossils are embedded in the rock. There is also an interesting museum onsite that used to be the building where sheep were sheared. Lots of artifacts that the owners used back in the day. Fascinating. I recommend 2 nights here. While it is possible to do a day trip from El Calafate, that does not give you enough time to really get the full experience of this estancia.

Estancia Cristina is a real gem and definitely worth a visit if you are thinking of going to Argentina. It was an absolute highlight for us and a totally unique hotel. The food, staff and rooms are all top level and the horses out of this world. Where else can you see wild horses galloping through the mountains whilst also on a horse. Very special place with a very interesting history.

Recommended by friends , we booked a full day and an overnight in Estancia Cristina, and we enjoyed evere minute !.
We were lucky: we made our fossil hiking trip with the most beautiful weather you can imagine.
More than 6 hours of walking in different surroundings , guided by a lovely , well informed and good english speaking guide : we will never forget.
Also the horseback riding trip was a real memorable experience .
The hospitality of the staff in the hotel was excellent.
We regretted that we booked only one night in this most relaxing place in a splendid environment

We just got back from a three week trip to Argentina and our two days and overnight stay at Estancia Cristina was the highlight. We went horseback riding the first day and did a day long hike the second day. Both with guides. The scenery was amazing!! The service, food and accommodations at the lodge were all excellent. We are so glad we didn't try to do Cristina as day-trippers -- it deserves an overnight stay. As overnight guests we were treated very special. Thank you!!

Estancia Cristina is a place and an experience you will never forget nor regret. It was the most memorable and magical place we stayed. We were there for two nights and three days and from the moment we got on the boat at El Calafate to the moment we left Estancia Cristina, we experienced the magic of the place and the people. The estancia is unique; its location, history and team of people working there are passionate about the place and the landscape and invite you in with a warmth and friendliness. The guides and the treks we went on will stay with us forever. If you are in Patagonia this will be worth every penny and more
