“Great small hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 March 2012

We had a great couple of nights at this small boutique hotel in El Calafate. Location was very convenient to downtown and the places that we were going to. Breakfasts were always on time and delicious. Pablo was extremely helpful and pleasant - helping with restaurant recommendations. Rooms were very spacious and modern. It was great to have a small fridge to store food (and of course wine) etc.

Highly recommended.

We stayed here as a family of four (two kids aged 5 and 2). Pablo (who speaks english very well) is fantastic. He even ordered dinner to our room once for us. Its the service and the modern clean rooms that set this apart. The service levels are five start and the rooms neat, clean and tidy with a kitchette. Central floor heating. Nothing bad to say here. The hotel is about 5 km out of town but we had a car and this didnt phase us. Most people only spend a couple of nights here. Being away from the centre of town is a bonus for us and the morning breakfast is yummy. This is a quality hotel and has the staff to back it up. Thanks Pablo for your great fantastic service.

Room Tip: We had kids and the hotel does the smart thing and space families out. All the rooms are the same l...

Just finished a three week trip in Argentina, and this little hotel stands out as being the best! I never realized just how important good front desk service is until this trip, and how much warmth and caring from the staff make all the difference. Pablo was fantastic, he was never too busy to take care of our multiple needs such as booking Big Ice, helping with a rental car, making dinner recommendations, lending us the bikes, all with a smile and lots of information. He is a gem and I hope the hotel knows that he elevates it above other places. 5 star service! Rooms are nice, it was great to have the extra space but never used the kitchen. It is out of town, which is a plus as El Calfate is kind of a mess, why stay in town when you can walk if need be or take a taxi? Quido is a 5 minute walk, and quite good for dinner if you don;t want to go down the hill and into town. Only thing I can fault them on is that the company that they use for box lunches (if you do any excursions lunch is not included so its necessary to bring something) is terrible. Poor quality and small portions, you would do better ordering someplace else.

Room Tip: All the same except the apartment for 4 or 5, which would be a tight squeeze for that many. There is...

We stayed here 2 nights whilst we explored the glaciers.
Good size rooms for the price, and service from Pablo at front of house was fantastic.
Nicely nestled on the outskirts of El Calafate, the centre of which can feel a little bit Disney.
Highly recommended.

We stayed at Los Ponchos in January 2012 and had a great time at this property. The rooms are nice and spacious with excellent kitchen facilities. What really sets this hotel apart though is the excellent service at the front desk from Pablo and Carrina. They helped us with scheduling last minute tours and car rentals and had the best suggestions for local activities. We would recommend this hotel to anyone visting the area. The only downside is that this is hotel is ~2km from the town center so keep this in mind when booking.

Our family of 4 (including 2 teens) stayed here at Christmas and enjoyed it very much. Very friendly and helpful staff at the front desk. They even provided advice on excursions before arrival. The suite was a bit tight for the 4 our us, but manageable. Bathroom was small. Rooms were clean and nicely decorated. Quiet. Lovely view. It is a 35 minute walk into town (uphill on the return). I heard that there was one restaurant close by -- didn't try it. Otherwise, there is nothing else around the hotel. ($6 US cab ride to town.) This was an excellent value for our family staying in one suite or for couples who want living area/kitchen.

My boyfriend and I had three nights here and were overwhelmed with Los Ponchos. The receptionists were charming and extremely helpful. The room was nicely decorated and very clean. It is spacious and has a kitchen in case you feel like cooking. The hotel is stunning and very well appointed, and the common areas excellent for an afternoon read. The breakfasts were delicious too. I would certainly recommend this hotel and would love to come again.
