The rooms are large, the showers hot, and the hotel staff eager to help. Each room has a large tv and its recently renovated. Be aware, not many people speak English and breakfast is basic. That being said, they really want to help and will do whatever they can. The hotel is about a 5 minute walk from town.

This Hosteria was a breath of fresh air. I would call it a nice hotel or B&B (not a hostel). Spacious, high ceilings and impeccably clean rooms and bathrooms. There's a grocery store next door and restaurants are only a few blocks up. Its a bit of a walk with luggage to the bus station, but still doable. There's not much to do in El Calafate other than see the amazing El Perito Glacier, but staying here made us want to stay longer than just two nights. The breakfast includes tasty croissants! The owner and staff are very friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend!

This Hostel is very neat and clean. The rooms and bathroom are a little small but great for the price.
They have a nice breadfast and the owner is really friendly and nice. We had a few musical jam sessions (where my friend played on one of his guitars).

The hostel is a 5 minute walk from the shops and resturants.

Clean and spacey rooms, with great showers (never thought I'd write about shower as a highlight- but it is!) are just the beginning of the experience of staying in Las Avutardas.
The host Andy invite guests and other friends to play, sing and dance together, making this hosteria to a themic island of arts in the midst of windy cold El Calafate.
The rest of the crew is also warm and helpful.

We really enjoyed our stay at Hosteria las Avutardas. Our double room was lovely - very nicely decorated. The breakfast was very good. The owner, Andy, was very helpful and friendly and even had a guitar jam session with my boyfriend.

The hostel is located at the end of the main street. It is only a 10min walk into the town. When we arrived we were met by the manager Andy. Straight off the bat we liked him. Really friendly and helpful. Actually, when we got there Andy was in the middle of his English class. He is currently taking a private tutor class to try and improve his English. We were informed that the normal double rooms that we had booked were all taken and we would be upgraded to a bigger apartment out the back at no extra cost. Unfortuneately, it isn't going to win any awards - the door wouldn't shut properly, the toilet would not flush (had to lift the top off and manually do it), the shower leaked everywhere, the bedroom was very sparse (2 bedside tables but no lamps?!) and overall the place was a little grubby. Also, there were tools lying all around the garden from some work being done on the other rooms which didn't really look attractive. It would have only taken a minute to tidy them away.

Andy is great but a little too unorganised. It all seemed a little to chaotic when trying to get something done. The WIFI is very weak and is not "available in all areas" as stated on the hostel description. It is slow and the signal strength is always only 1 bar. We would have liked to see the normal double room as we heard these are really nice. But we have to review off the room we actually got and unfortuneately that was a let down.

We have just spent 4 nights in El Calafate and thanks to Andy it was like a dream. Hosteria is very cute, rooms are big and clean. It's in the very centre of the town. But most important is hospitality that we have been received with, tours that Andy organised for us, places he recommended as well as great dinner he cooked for all the guests one evening. Thank you again for everything!
