Loved this place - it's amenities, its staff...definite A+ for our stay in Calafate! Rooms were spacious and clean. Breakfast was the usual fan fare - fruits, cereals, pastries and cheese/meats - plenty to choose from. The packed lunch I bought was quite good. And hotel staff were helpful with making phone calls when an item was left on a tour by one of our group members. Minor drawback - distance from town. However, there was an hourly shuttle that we used more than once, that got us to and from town without issue. Cab ride if needed (after late dinner) was inexpensive as well. Perk of being a bit out of town was that we were the last to be picked up for our Glacier tour and first to be dropped off…some extra minutes in our favor on both ends. Was also nice that the hotel had a hot tub & pool for after a long day of hiking - with beautiful views from the pool overlooking the lake behind hotel. Game room with ping pong table also available - in case of that rainy day. Overall made for a relaxing, comfortable stay!

I really enjoyed my stay. My room was clean, spacious with a view of the lake. The staff was helpful and friendly. The restaurant was ok for a dinner, but nothing memorable. The pool and spa were good. Even though the hotel is not downtown, the hourly shuttle to the city compensates the distance. I`d rather stay at this hotel than closer to the city.

I stood in Xelena for my honeymoon and I must confess that it´s a high quality hotel. Good service in general, excellent rooms with lot´s of comfort. The breakfast and restaurant offer real nice meals. Staff not very warm but efficient. The view to Lake Argentina and the bay are uniques.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for three nights in March 2014, and enjoyed our visit; there are many things to like about this hotel, to start with, the complementary glass of Champagne when we arrived was nice.

The hotels location is about a mile and a half from the center of El Calafate, and overlooks Lake Argentina. This location suited us, with a shuttle service every hour we had no problem getting to and from town
.
The front desk staff where smart, pleasant, helpful and bi-lingual. The bar was comfortable, we had lunch there on the day we were leaving and hung out there afterward for our late pick up to the airport.

The hotel is on a small hillside overlooking the lake, with the lobby at the back on level 4, with the rooms on the lower levels. There may be rooms at the back on levels 5 & 6, but we did see these.

The rooms were large and modern, with flat screen TV (which we never turned on), a remote control for the three sets of drapes at the large window, and a remote control for the very quiet heating / cooling unit. These all worked fine and produced the result we wanted. If the remote for the TV had an English Button, we might have glanced at that too! :-)

The rooms were rather noisy, particularly the sliding closet doors, they were of very low standard, with no runners. They just slid along in a groove and closed with a thump. And of course our neighbors were the same, and with the room walls being very thin, you got the benefit of their doors too, and their TV. Also it was quite impossible to close the room doors quietly. The same “basic” quality as the closet. Low end Home Depot stuff.

The breakfast room and the breakfast were excellent if you were not expecting “Full English,” which we were not. There were a few hot items, the usual scrambled eggs and sausage but we didn’t try those, the fruit, cereal, pastries and breads were all very nice, and more than enough for us.

The restaurant was very good too; we had dinner there once and enjoyed the lamb especially. The dining room was very quiet, with only two or three other tables occupied, but I think we eat earlier than most people do here, at about 7:00, so I expect it would fill up a little later on.

This hotel might advertise itself as 5 star, but it’s not, there are many things we liked about it, but they should call it what it is, it’s 4 star at best.
