“Quiet oasis in El Califate.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 February 2014

Other than increasing the opening hours for the pool and gym Couldn't fault this hotel. Stayed a total of three nights and found it peaceful and relaxing interlude in an otherwise very hectic schedule.
Large rooms well appointed and the choice of two dining rooms if you didn't wish to go to the centre of El Calafate a short walk away.
Friendly helpful staff .

Last minute choice as our trip to Estancia Cristina was cancelled when the boat couldn't go (very high winds). At the last minute we had to stay 2 extra days in El Calafate and our agent got us in here. In truth it was very quiet and we were the only ones dining in their very good main restaurant. The hotel is made up of 6 buildings at varying distances from the small main building. We were a reasonable distance away but there is golf buggy transfer (particularly necessary in the rain!) along the cobbled paths - pulling your luggage is not an option! Rooms were very spacious (I think we had a corner suite) and facilities were fine. Of course a lack of towels/glasses etc. means a call to reception and wait (not too long). Just a little bit wearying.
Overall, very good stay, restaurant and breakfast were very good and service was very good. Just not very inspiring (sorry...). No complaints, just the lay-out was a bit isolating, particularly when there are so few people but a very good base for trips and easy walking to the main part of town (5mins gentle stroll)..

Room Tip: You have (8-10) rooms in a number of separate 'houses', some close to reception and the main...

We stayed 3 nights in Los Sauces and enjoyed it very much. We had a room which was in de first building next to the reception. The room was spacious but did not offer much space where to put our clothes. The room was very warm, but that was solved after having spoken to the housekeeping manager. The bathroom was spacious too but everytime you took a shower the floor was wet. These all are minor details as we enjyed the place very much. It was quiet at night and we enjoyed the service of all staff very much. Everybody was very friendly and willing to fullfill every wish. We liked the quality of the food so much that we dined twice in their gourmet restaurant and once in the grill. Outstanding dishes and, again, veru good service by the waitresses. One thing we found strange is that every night the management came togetther in one of these restaurants for a meeting or so. They never bothered in enquiring with their guests if every was okay or if they where enjoying themselves. This would have been a nice gesture towards guests. The buffet breakfast was very good. Again both restaurants are overheated, so don't bother taking warm clothes for in the restaurants themselves. The spa is very nice. Nice size indoor pool, small saunas, steam room, dressing rooms and the best massage ever by Daniël at very affordable prize. Don't forget to book a massage with him. All buildings are located in a beautiful garden with old willows. 10 minutes walk from city center. Would come back here.

Room Tip: Next time I would prefer a room in the back of the property near the grill restaurant.

Nicely decorated, rooms overheated, shoddy workmanship in bathroom construction. Bedroom hardwood floor creaked and had heating in the floor that was uneven. We would turn the radiators off and the maid would turn them back on. We had to open the windows to cool the room down. If we left anything out and left for the day, the maid would put it in a drawer or amoire . Left out plastic bags for packing shoes and they were thrown away. Different concept of individual lodges, but lots of walking either to breakfast or to front gate. Staff was extremely accommodating in getting us to and from places in a golf cart if they were there when you were walking. Breakfast was nice. Antique looking furniture in room was interesting. Our Bombay chest had drawers that wouldn't glide in and out-what a struggle. The fancy brass, French provincial key eschucheon on the chest was screwed on with silver, metal, wood screws. Yard landscaping and birds roaming the grounds were beautiful. We ate at one of the two restaurants on the premises (one by reception) and the food was excellent and staff excellent as well. Lots of positives, but I felt violated over the fact that my "things" were being tampered with by the maid. If I leave it on top of my suitcase, I want it on top of my suitcase when I return.

Room Tip: In the middle, so the walk to the front to leave and to breakfast is half-way.

One of the best hotels I've ever been. Belongs to the President of Argentina, where I believe the focus is on service. In this hotel your wish is a command. All the staff are very friendly and attentive. The hotel is very well located (5 minutes walking to the main street of the city) and well maintained with beautiful gardens. It has 2 restaurants, but we only went on one. The Club to eat lamb. Ask for the rack of lamb. I've never tasted anything like it. A marvel. The rooms are spacious and very clean. You must stay at Los Sauces if you like fine hotels.

Room Tip: All rooms are well located and quiet.

Spent two nights at Los Sauces. It was clean and spacious but really not especially nice. Priced as a high end luxury hotel and it's not up to the standard of a economy hotel in the US. Food was not good and also overpriced. Reception guy was arrogant.

Our room had two full beds rather than the king we requested and we couldn't change. The pillows had little stuffing so went flat quickly. The rooms tend to be overheated so we had to turn off the radiators and open a window. We had all radiators off the entire visit and, at time, it was still too hot. The bathroom seemed to have radiant heat which was nice since it was tiled. The sink area was limited so you were constantly bringing what you needed in because there was no room to leave it. The bath was well stocked.

The rooms are in separate buildings. The entrance area in each building was incredibly overheaded and there was no way to change it. We were in the front area of the property while the restaurant was in the far back. Wouldn't be a bad walk except that the wind was blowing at 50 mph and it was 35 degrees. The restaurant food was good.

Room Tip: Corner rooms are larger.
