First, let us show you our sincere gratitude for taking the time in sending us your review through Tripadvisor.
We´re glad you enjoy our Hotel!
Looking forward to welcome you back in the near future.
This was a nice hotel, not very expensive but far from restaurants and the town. To get anywhere you need to get a "remis" which it's a taxi. The rate includes breakfast which it's decent. All the tour buses pick you up first and drop you off last. Additionally, most tours require that you take your own lunch. Rochester hotels provides you with a lunch bag (at a fee) that it's not great. Get food somewhere else if you can. The hotel is good for the area buut hotels in town would be better.
This was a very comfortable hotel for a two-night stay in Calafate at a great price. As other reviewers have mentioned, it's a little outside of the city center (about a 40 minute walk). The hotel offers an hourly shuttle in the evening that takes visitors to the city center. We didn't mind the walk and enjoyed the opportunity to take in more views of Lago Argentino and see more of El Calafate. The hotel had a mountain lodge decor and the lobby spaces were nicely decorated. The room itself was comfortable, cozy, and warm with a view of the lake. I didn't try the restaurant besides enjoying the breakfast each morning - which was an extensive spread of sweet breads, breads, fruit, eggs, meats, and cheese. The hotel staff were very helpful. We were able to order a packed lunch from the hotel the night before our Perito Moreno excursion and pick it up the next morning. I would recommend the Rochester.
Thank you very much for your rewiew, we are glad that you enjoyed your stay at Rochester Calafate, specially the breakfast and view of the hotel. Your words make us feel that we are on the correct direction.
Again, thank you very much for taking the time to share your experience at our hotel, and we hope that we can have you hosted again in the future,
The hotel was generally nice, but the room felt a little dated, in part because of the rather old fashioned blanket and sheets arrangement on the bed (to be fair, I found this to be standard in Argentina) but also due to the very thin carpet laid on top of what appeared to be plastic, giving a very cheap feel to the place. This was somewhat offset by the impressively powerful shower with loads of hot water. It's nice to be by the lake, but unfortunately a two story house has been built between the hotel and the lake marring the view somewhat. I did find the distance into town a little bit difficult and the shuttles didn't really work for me so i just ended up walking 4 + miles each day which I suppose is no particular bad thing. Being out of town the airport shuttle, the shuttle to the public bus to the glacier and the bus for the trip I went on to Torres Del Paine picked up here first and dropped off last, extending each trip by 1.5 hrs. That's what would really put me off a return trip here. Breakfast was good and wins points for having about the only pepper grinder I encountered in Argentina, but unfortunately the coffee was pretty dire. Staff were kind and speak good English.
Reasonable room and breakfast, good options, friendly staff, out of town. Room was large enough, bathroom ok, breakfast had a lot of sweet options, not to many salty choices. Personnel at the lobby was very friendly. We had - compared to the town - a very good dinner, but wine is overpriced (4x the supermarket price!). Our room was in the arrival area, quite some noice from arriving cars and people, also it was the favorite smoking area, so negotiate a room not next to the entrance of the hotel.
It's a nice hotel with everything you need in the room. It's very clean and there is a lovely garden for relaxing or drinking a coffee.
The staff was very helpful and it's close by the city if you have a car.
