“Alternative view of the Falkland Islands.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 March 2013

Having just visited the Falkland Islands as part of an Antarctic voyage, it was interesting to see this monument. It is rather non-descript, but worth seeing while you are wandering about in Ushuaia for its historical value, especially if you remember the 1982 war.

“Are you kidding me?”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 January 2013

I can't believe this is listed as an attraction! This "square" is more like a traffic island that you'll pass by and see (in passing) 500 times during your stay in Ushuaia. There's plenty of Malvinas stuff all around, not just this plaza. The Malvinas area big issue here so, if you want to make friends with the locals, don't call them the Falklands.

“It's just a small "square" with. Falkland islands war memorial... Nothing special”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 December 2012 via mobile

This "square" (more of a traffic island) is a signifier that the Argentine Navy is still obsessed with the ridiculous war they started and had no chance of winning. However, with hindsight, the list of the poor Argentinian soldiers and sailors who died for Galtieri's political will is a moving memorial - facing out into the Beagle Channel - from where they sailed and never returned. But... It's really nothing special!

“Pleasant plaza”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 November 2012

A good indication of the obsession some Argentinians have with the islands being there. A pleasant plaza with nice views and a reminder of the problems conflicts bring.
