Not many positive things to say about this place. Not really clean, low quality beds, poor breakfast, passive staff, many stairs, noisy rooms... everything looks (and is!) old, dirty and with no intention to improve. Thinking hard, i can mention location as a positive aspect, but there are many better around, so keep looking!

Room Tip: Rooms to the street are cery noisy, rooms to the back have a frightening view..., you choose!

If you are argentinian you feel really ashamed (like I feel by now) to call the place a hotel. It´s really less than a poor student hostel of a low category, but with the cost of a 3 star hotel, in our case it was 90 dollars per night for a thrice room, in what they call, in Ushuaia, low season!. I mean, I didn´t expect a super service but at least a clean site to stay 3 days. The rooms are old and in bad shape, the carpet is worn out, the bathrooms smell awful, the room service forgot to clean our room, twice, the towels were dirty and had holes, and the breakfast well.... it´s just coffee, or tea, and croissants (small ones) or bread with marmarlade ...oh! and some artificial orange juice....and that´s it. It´s true you have free wifi but only at the lobby of the "Hotel",and it´s true that the location is quite on the entrance to the main road of the city, so you can walk by night without insecurity. But then, that´s a characteristic of the whole city anyway.
So if you don´t find anything better or if it happens that the full accomodation of the city is booked out, then accept the suggestion and go....
You will probably have a reward by the geography and view of the Beagle Bay and other points of the" city at the end of the world" that you will be able to visit.
I mean, to compensate the bad hotel experience, Ushuaia gave us the sights of an incredibly beautiful landscape which made us forget the Monaco Hotel, at least during the daily hours.

Room Tip: ask for the front rooms, those with windows looking to the San Martin road.

My friends and I stayed there for 4 days before our cruise departure and we thought it would be great because of the location on San Martin road. The hotel looked nice enough from the lobby but that's where it ends. The bed I was going to be sleeping on had hair on it. The toilet seat was made out of some recycled material, had random felt on it, and did not look clean. Out of 3 towels, one was in good condition, one was tattered, and the other had caked on either blood or poop. I ended up using a sarong for my towel and trusted nothing after that. On our last evening, my friend noticed that the lobby was starting to smoke up and we were worried that there's a fire. As it turns out, it's smoke from the kitchen of the restaurant next door. Why was the lobby not smokey the days prior, we do not know. The hotel also smells of mildew in the hallway with motion detection lighting that did not come on until you reached a certain point. The free wi-fi is only available in the lobby or around the stairs. DO NOT STAY AT THIS PLACE!

The hotel monaco is a disappointment from the moment you walk in the door. The "lobby" is a musty room with a plywood reception desk. Hallways are dim -- no elevator. Once in the room we were greeted with peeling paint and rusty bathroom fixtures. And if you have a view out the back, you can enjoy the back sight of a hge yellow crane poised over a newly dug pit. We're surprised the hotel did not just fall in. Good luck with the thin matresses. I am not that fussy, but I did not find this hotel acceptable. Breakfast was barely edible.

I often look at reviews and think that people would complain about the smallest thing. this is the first time i have been compelled to write a negative review. i would not reccomend this hotel to anyone. €95 approx for a room with "breakfast" included. the room was dingy and the bathroom door wouldnt close. the curtain that is suppose to be on the inside beside the window was actually outside the main curtain/drapes. the carpet was filthy and the door handle kept comming off in my hand. the heating came on one night and we had no way of controlling it. we had to open the window and bear it.

the stairs and carpets were dirty and stained.

breakfast comprised of diluted tang instead of orange juice and pastries.

i've stayed in worse places but this was the worst for the price. with €95 a night you would expect much much better. they know they can have inflated prices due to the lack of beds in the town. only stayed here because we could find nothing else

avoid like a plauge.

Room Tip: try another hotel

Hotel Monaco is a nice hotel where you don`t need to spend too much money.

The rooms are simples but confortables, the bathroom is clean.

The staff are not very gentile (but in this city nobody is). We had a window in the room, and we could watch the sea all the mornings.

In fact. Ushuaia is a very beautiful city, everything interesting is in "san martin" Avenue and we were in this street.

The only problem is that the computers (free internet) were really really old!!!! (No msn) and when i was making love with my boyfriend the housekeeper entered to the room to clean (she did not knock the door)

I would return to this hotel, because is very cheap specially for people who loves to save money.

We stayed in the Monaco a couple of years ago and again this year, as a base before and after trekking on the Valdevieso and Dientes. As a trekking hotel it's fine. Very basic hotel, but clean and (very) warm, with an adequate breakfast and internet that seemed to work this time. It's on the main drag in Ushuaia so very convenient for parillas and trekking shops
