We stayed at Tierra de Leyendas for the second time this month. First time was four years ago and ever since then, my now 10- and 12-year olds have been asking me to go back! You will instantly feel at home in this beautiful place, where owners and staff simply go out of their way to make sure you have a fabulous experience. I could only compare it to staying at a fantastic friend's place where they only interrupt your experience to make sure it is even better than it would otherwise be. Yes, it is outside the city, less than a 10-minute taxi ride (about usd5) but that just adds to the charm for me. Wonderful place to come back to after a day skiing/snowboarding and be welcomed by Sebastian's excellent home-made food. Even if you choose not to have dinner there, their super breakfast will impress you. Can't rave enough. Thank you, thank you.

This hotel was so quaint and beautiful. The hotel itself is about a 7 minute drive from the downtown area of Ushuaia, but definitely worth it. The rooms were immaculately clean with gorgeous views. The breakfast was out of this world. Every morning a table was set for us with a quote to start the day. Fresh coffee, slab bacon and fresh pastries. The staff is amazing. The owner who is a chef makes an amazing dinner (the restaurant is one of the best in the town).

I wish i could have stayed longer. Also, the blackout curtains were sufficient for the long hours of sunlight.

We spent three nights in this lovely, homely and comfortable hotel. We were greeted by Ivan - friendly and helpful. The other staff were also excellent. Location for us was good as it was peaceful and the views from the hotel were second to none. The small lounge was also well received by us and the breakfasts were superb. We had dinner there one night and a lot of love and passion was put into the cooking - a slightly modern/European twist on typical Argentinian food.

Sebastian was a wonderful host and provided a great breakfast as well. I was put off by the location at first, it's west of the center city (which is very hectic) but it is on a quiet hill overlooking the mountains on both sides of the channel with a wonderful sunrise view and just minutes from the entrance to the national park and up one block from the supermarket. Ushuaia was one of the highlights of our trip to Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego and this hotel was very much part of that experience.

Room Tip: Ask for a water view, we had the room with the bay window.

We stayed here in December 2013 for a couple of nights with friends before boarding a ship to Antarctica. We wish we had been able to stay here longer.
The hosts were fantastic - very welcoming and they went out of their way to suggest walking trails in the national park (and how to get there).
The little living room and outside porch were the perfect spot to have pre-dinner drinks while watching the sun set.
The restaurant at Tierra de Leyendas is definitely worth dining at - the food was amazingly delicious and the setting is small and intimate.
The breakfasts were gourmet and plentiful.
It was about a 20-30 minute walk into the main shopping area and restaurants. This didn't bother us. We stayed in Ushuaia in 2012 and were closer to the action but we were in a charmless hotel. We would stay here at Tierra de Leyendas in a heartbeat.

Nearly everything you can read about this hotel is true. We had a really nice room (quite small however) facing the channel, while not exactly on the shore. The whole hotel is really well decorated. "Official" dinner time is quite limited, but the staff is flexible, which is a good thing because the food is excellent.

We stayed here en route to Antarctica. We had 5 days to do some walking in Tierra del Fuego and then again for 1 night on the way back from our trip to Antarctica.
First, we should mention the staff. We were greeted by young Ivan who could not have been more welcoming or friendlier. He was extremely attentive and we felt we had arrived "home" despite being at the end of the world!
Our room had a superb and panoramic view of the Beagle Channel and the mountains on Isla Navarino opposite, and was very well appointed, with all amenities as well as tea and coffee making. We dined in the hotel 4 nights out of six and the food, prepared by the owner/chef, Sebastian, was superb. We should also mention the breakfast, which offered a huge choice of fresh fruit and baked goodies. It set us up for the day very well!
The other staff member who must be mentioned is Kospi who was always there during the day time. She had an encyclopaedic knowledge of the area, and would make all the arrangements for our day. Nothing was too much trouble. It was like having your own personal tour guide on hand!. Above all she had a warmth and friendliness that made the whole experience particularly rewarding.

In summary Tierra de Leyendas is a very special place. As others have noted it is a little way out of the centre of town, but the taxis are very easy to get and very reliable. It also makes for a very restful lodging.

Room Tip: Try to get a room facing south
