“Best hotel owners!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 July 2013

I just spent a great weekend in Banos, which is a must do if you are in Ecuador. The hotel owners/managers at Napolitano were amazing. They help arrange all of our tours including whitewater rafting and ziplining and helped with translations and all our needs. The hotel is clean and comfortable and in a great location close to the center of the city, but not in the middle of all the noise.

Our family of four stayed in this hotel for two nights. Our room was clean, comfortable and quiet. The breakfast served was very good. The owner was very friendly, gracious and extremely helpful. She even did laundry for us for a very reasonable price. Though outside of the central area of town, it is an easy, short walk to the center of the lovely town of Baños. Recommended!

I had an excellent stay at this nice, cozy hotel near the downtown of Banos-Ecuador, which is a little colonial city full of culture wildlife and outdoor activities options in the Ecuadorian Sierra.
The hotel is located 5 minutes walk from the cathedral, there is lots of restaurants and the bars just 8-9 minute walk
This is a family owned and operated hotel so you are treated as a family guest more than a customer. I felt really at home while at the hotel.
Iwould definetly stay here again.

Room Tip: top floors offer better views of th mountains.

The hotel is a just short walk from the bus station & the central area of Banos.

Still we had quite a time finding it. The hotel only has a small dark sign on their entry door. The door itself is part of a long, high wall enclosing the front of the property. The hotel building is set well back from the sidewalk wall. When we arrived we were walking across the street from the hotel & did not see the sign. We walked right by it. We knew the hotel was near the firehouse. So after walking a short distance past the firehouse we crossed the street & walked back towards town. That was when we found the sign on the door...what a relief!

The owners, Jacqeline & Ivan are super friendly. They can share a wealth of information relating to the Banos area & things to do.

Jacky prepares a wonderful breakfast with scrambled eggs, fruit, cereal, yogurt, coffee, hot chocolate, bread, & more. Each morning we had entertaining conversations with her, & occasionally Ivan would join us. They no longer own a restaurant so the breakfast is in a room on the 3rd floor of the hotel.

There were no soccer games during our stay. We did have a noisy neighbor, but he did quiet down after 11pm.

Our room was clean, with large windows which curved out from the wall. It made the room seem more spacious & provided great mountain views.

There is a pool, but it is only open seasonally. It was not open during our stay. They have an outdoor patio area where you can read or just relax.

We had a delightful stay, & would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: They have kitchenettes if you want to cook.

We had a lovely room with a great view of the volcano. The bathoom had a big walk-in shower, wi-fi in the room, comfortable bed. The breakfast each morning was fantastic. We were charmed by the hotel and Carla and her mother couldn't have been more accommodating. My only complaint (which really wasn't their fault) is that we were a block away from a football field, and there was a game played one night when we were there. It was unvelievably noisy. But, again, not the hotel's fault. The hotel is slight further out of town than many other choices, but the town is so small that walking up to the center is no problem at all.

I stayed here for a week in the room with a kitchenette. Ivan WANTED me to call him upon arrival so he could pick me up!! Once at the hotel, he and Carla detailed for me everything to do in Banos, they wanted me to enjoy my stay and were so patient in answering all my questions. Since I had a kitchenette, I didn't have any meals with them....but understand they make awesome pizzas that locals have delivered to them!!!

The family, including Jackie, are so helpful and thoughtful. Whenever I came in and Jackie was around, we would talk and very shortly she would ask , almost sweetly insisting, that I sit down for a juice, when I declined, offered a banana, very sweet.

My room had "front" and "back" views, which I loved!!!! Area is quiet, happy to be 5 minutes walk from the central part of town, away from the traffic and noise but in reality so close, and not completely removed...on the block is a convenience store and a block away a bakery. If taking Spanish lesson at one of the 3 schools, they are 2 blocks away.

Keep in mind, this is a small town, and so services aren't to certain American standards...in no way to disparage the place, just don't be a gringo thinking everything always needs to be like the US. Meaning you might have to ask for an additional towel so you can take onto your excursions, but dont think the hotel doesn't want to provide or is absentminded.....they will happily provide.

My room was VERY large, with a dining table, comfy leather couch, and great bed with warm blankets. Kitchen has a lot of amenities from blender to corkscrew...much of which I didn't use, but there if you wanted.

Had Cable TV, which but don't think include CNN international but think some movie channels. Wifi good, and have hot water, though being on the 3 floor, wise to run it for a second to allow the hot water to get up there.

Very secure and quiet (yes you may hear the distant dogs or roosters but really you are in pueblo I Ecuador, you WILL always hear that but really distant and never heard a peep from the fire dept, which is never the case in NYC) and again the family are just so helpful, wealth of knowledge. Upon arrival gave me 2 maps and detailed so many activities and options for me. Nice where they are not in your way but always there for you if you want.

WONDERFUL WONDERFUL FAMILY

GeoTours is a great agency to do your outdoor excursions, very well run operation. Did the rafting and canyoning with them...remember your bathsuit and towel!!!

Both Cafe Hood and Casa Hood have great meal options and prices.

I really enjoyed my stay here. Keep in mind you are in a small town in Ecuador and not at the Fours Seasons in NYC and you will surely enjoy!
