I stayed at the Sangay hotel for 3 nights and really liked the place. The food was very good and buffet style, lots to eat. The staff was nice but a bit busy and they overlooked a few details. I slept in a little house close to the swimmingpool and the bed was clean, but there was some humidity on the walls and the roofs are made from cardboard. It was fine really. I got one massage at the spa area and thought it was one of the best massages I've ever had. I also tried the sauna-box which was great relaxing too. If you want to visit the hot water springs I recommend to go really early in the morning, because in the afternoons the water is just dirty already by all the people using it. They fill up the pools around 4am, so if you go at 5am or 6am you're good and it is a fantastic place for relaxation!

Beautiful area but disappointing accommodations. Our room was located in the older stucco courtyard area of the hotel. It was large enough for the bed with no extra seating available and barely enough room for our suitcases. It was supposed to be non smoking but obviously had been and the air freshener used to hide the odor was overwhelming. The noise from the carnival across the street was quite loud and not muffled by the walls of our room. The restaurant was located on the top floor of the main building which you accessed via steep stairs in an area undergoing construction with mattresses laying against the walls. Not a good experience and I would not recommend this hotel to fellow travelers.

This hotel must have once been good. The rooms were OK, nothing special but serviceable. The hotel was booked by our tour operator on a half board basis. We went up to dinner and were served an appalling meal, the steak was chewy, flavourless and difficult to cut. To be fair a very nice member of staff immediately arranged for us to have an alternative without question. There was only one other couple in the soul less restaurant so maybe the hotel restaurants reputation means that people go elsewhere. I woke in the night with mild food poisoning. Whilst I do not think it was from the food, the cleanliness of the restaurant, crockery and cutlery left a lot to be desired.
Breakfast was poor, there was a lot out but the quality was not good. It is difficult to get tasteless fruit in Ecuador but this hotel managed it.
On our second night we ate out despite our meal being paid for and had an excellent meal. The only saving grace of this hotel are the reception staff who were excellent. The hotel desperately needs a facelift, a good clean and good management.

We are in Ecuador on our honeymoon,... We arrived in Banos on Tuesday evening, because the places we wanted to stay in were full we chose this because of the good reviews and location.
Well the location is the only good thing about the hotel, close to the centre and the baths, everything in walking distance.
We asked for the junior suite, we made a reservation the day before that they had lost,
. The room was clean but smelled unfresh, there were dead flies on the ceiling of the bathroom. The water was too hot or too cold... The bed was ok, the wallpaper fading,
Breakfast is a disaster, the quality of the food is bad , but good service.
We rented mountainbikes through the hotel to do the Ruta las cascadas, these were excellent quality and service.
I think this hotel needs renovation and fast, it's glory years are over. ( i think this used to be very nice)

Stayed for 2 nights in an executive room, the newer and probably better half of the hotel. Clean rooms, balcony, tv, comfy bed. Swimming pool, table tennis and pool table and free internet. Good choice at breakfast, nice location, just a short walk into town. Try to eat at Posada Del Arte the food was delicious....take a cable car across the gorge, not for vertigo sufferers!!! Big impressive waterfall to visit too called Diablo, where you can climb to the top and get wet in the process.
