“best coffee in banos and excellent cakes”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 May 2014

Wonderful friendly coffee shop. I'm from London and can be picky about coffee and the coffee here is really good. The cakes are amazing as well- particularly the chocolate cake. You can also buy treats like good olive oil, chocolate etc to take away. And the tiramisu is incredible! The people are friendly, the wifi is fast: good enough to skype. If you become a regular they will give you extra big portions and little tasters. I get a coffee here every day because it's cheaper than buying the beans and making my own. It really is an excellent little place. Oh and the ham and cheese toasted sandwich for one dollar is a great savoury option.

“I hate these places! (not)”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 January 2014

Like museum bookstores/gift shops, the only thing you want to do is buy everything you set your eyes on. I had never seen curry paste on sale in Ecuador before and they have an excellent selection of exclusive chocolates that's otherwise very difficult to get hold of. The service was good too.

“Fabulous Food. Fabulous Service. Fabulous People.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 May 2013

In Banos, our breakfast place was either Arté Cafe, or this Arome - simply to alternate sometimes.

This is a wonderful little café, with a lot more offering than you might expect. Set breakfasts are a bargain.

You can get fresh fruit juice, coffee or tea or hot chocolate, scrambled eggs, and a pancake all for $3.50. This is just one option that we usually frequented, but there are different choices.

They also have delicious sandwiches. Try Sanduche de Queso. The different types of cheese they use just work together great.

Paul and Elena who run this cafe are wonderful, friendly people. I spent considerable amount of time sitting there, talking to Elena. And their little daughter Paula is a little terror of delight!

If you are there any time soon (before they forget me), ask for Batido de Dolly. Not even kidding. I asked Paul one day to make me this particular Mocha shake which was not on the menu, and since then my friends and I have been ordering it as the "Dolly Shake" or "Batido de Dolly"

Oh and they do sell the best chocolates in Banos. Most of the chocolates organic, as is the coffee. "Arome" is a family brand, and they also have another chocolate shop, and one spice shop.

If you go to Banos, Arome is a MUST!

“You won't find better coffee in Banos”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 April 2013

This is an itty bitty place, but they serve a mighty cup of coffee, and pretty darn good crepes and sandwiches to boot. I've been to all the "best" coffee places in Banos, but Arome still tops them all, plus it's the only one where I can get a decaf Cappuccino late at night.

There are three places called Arome in Banos de Agua Santa, and they're owned by the same family - you get the coffee shop way down East on Oriente, then you get the wonderful little shop next to the grocery store on Rocafuerte and Halflants (the only place where I can buy good Brie and a wonderful assortment of nuts and hard to find exotic spices), and then there is the coffee and chocolate shop on Oriente and Halflants - just a block north of Banco Pichincha, where they serve the best coffees and wonderful chocolate cake.

Arome has a wonderful assortment of coffees, chocolates, and cute gifts too, but oh, the coffee! I've tried to buy from them the mix they use and go prepare it in my little rental house here in Banos, but it never comes out the same. Fortunately Arome's prices are low enough that I can go grab my java fix there frequently. No better coffee in Banos.
