“Poor restaurant but great rooms”
Reviewed 15 January 2012

We had an amazing time at Siufaga Beach Resort. The large rooms with air conditioning, an outdoor shower and the picture perfect pool were highlights. The staff were very friendly and helpful. However the quality of the restaurant was a disappointment. Half the menu wasn't avaliable, the food took over an hour to arrive and was often not what was specified on the menu. Avoid the meatlovers pizza! Also everyday we were there appeared to be lawn mowing day - I was woken everyday to the sound of the grass being cut. Not ideal!

The resort itself was beautiful the rooms were very spacious including the fantastic very clean bathroom with a unique enclosed but open top shower. Friendly staff at all times especially the very helpful barman at the pool bar Tana Talaga who was not only our barman but also served as our waiter and guide with helpful information for where to go and what to do in Savai'i. The staff were all very friendly and helpful however I think a bit more thinking needs to go into accommodating guests on the weekend in regards to meals and what's available to them since the weekends in Savai'i things close at a certain time. We were left with nowhere to eat after finding out that the kitchen closes at 2pm and the chef goes home so if you don't order your lunch on time on the wkend you have no idea knowing that you'll be left with nothing to eat as there was nothing else they could offer you to eat once the chef goes home. It would have been good to be told this before leaving the resort to go swimming. Overall if you're gonna charge a 5 star rate it'll be nice to get the 5star service with it especially when it comes to food. They did have the best lobsters tho - if only they had everything else available that was advertised on the menu.

Room Tip: All the rooms are fantastic doesnt matter what you choose as they are all spacious and beautiful.

I was charged high room rates slightly more than the Aggie Grey's Hotel or Lagoon in Upolu. If your going to charge that much price per night, you should offer 24hr front desk service, 24hr room service and better lights on the resort. I needed emergency service and calling the front desk was a joke. Everything shuts down at 9pm. There is no phone books in the room to call for emergency help, a secutiry gaurd who does not speak English and service comes back on at 8am in the morning. There are no lights outside to help where your walking to and it can become very scary if your elderly or a single lady. Siufaga Resort should really revise their service especially if your charging high 5star hotel room rates. The room rates are equivilent to the Bellagio in Las Vegas. The rooms are beautiful and roomy, but it quickly loses its value when the service is terrible.

Room Tip: Definitely request the air conditioned villa's, they are beautiful and roomy.

Siufaga was like an oasis in a dessert of simple beach fales! We chose American Samoa for our honeymoon, but due to weather we could not get out to the Manua Islands as we had intended. Instead, we traveled around Tutuila and 'Upolu and finally made our way to Savaii--and we were ready for comforts not found at the beach fales. Now, we are NOT resort people, but when your only other option is a thatched hut, I quickly became a resort person.

I never wanted to leave Siufaga. It is across from truly the most gorgeous water you have ever seen--and there is a small strip of sand to lay on. It is too rocky for my taste all over Samoa, so we didn't swim much there. We spent a lot of time by the pool, actually, and loved the restaurant and staff. Comparatively to other places we ate across the island, their food was much better. They were all helpful and professional. We were somewhat of an oddity being American- most visitors are from New Zealand.

The rooms were clean and spacious and had fans. It was a great few nights at Siufaga and if you find yourself on Savaii, I would gladly give my recommendation for a night or 2.

Room Tip: We had a standard room which I believe the only differences were not having a TV and not having A/C...

Siufaga is a nice enough place if you like a typical manmade resort with concrete paths, sunloungers and airconditioning. The beach is across the road, which wasn't clear from the website, so you can't just step out from your room and go for a swim, except in the pool. The beach and water there is good though for real swimming and the snorkelling is not bad either. The restaurant is a typical hotel restaurant. Food was good and there is a wide range. I would say the best thing about Siufaga is its location, so that its easy enough to get to from the ferry and also central to getting to some of the nicer beaches and attractions further north and south. I wouldn't stay here again though as its too resorty for me.

We just had 6 relaxing nights at the Siufaga Beach Resort & truly loved the place. Initially we were booked into the standard bungalow with only fan cooling. As we found this far too hot, the staff made a few calls (as our check in day was a Sunday) & were able to change us to an Ocean View villa with air-con that had all we could ask for. The room's were clean & serviced everyday. The grounds were full of beautiful tropical plants & the pool was perfect to do lengths in every morning, with the swim-up bar a great place to chill out later in the afternoon. The chef was superb & we really enjoyed his speciality salad. His pizza's & bases were delish, tho alot of the other options on the menu were drowning in little too much oil altho tasty. The Siufaga was in an ideal location, close to the south coast for surfing (with turtles in amongst the waves), not far from Salelologa the wharf town.
There was work going on around the resort on a rock wall & a road alongside the resort during the day which was a little noisy, but the units were fairly soundproof & we slept well each night on the comfortable bed. We enjoyed being amongst a village & being able to interact with the local children. The snorkelling across the road at the little beach was lovely altho the coral was a little bleached, the fish were really colourful. Lastly we cannot fault the staff, they were friendly, caring & spoke English well. Malia, Tana, Josh, Loi'i to name are few were all wonderful to us & we'll definitely be back.

Room Tip: Ocean View villa's were great value

We have holidayed to Samoa 6 times but this was our first stay at Suifaga resort.
We were really impressed with the pool, it’s huge and has a swim up bar, which we along with many of the other guests all made good use of!
The rooms were nice, spacious, our room had a double bed and 2 singles, and also a lounge chair (although this was covered in plastic!), the rooms looked like the could use a bit of an update especially considering the prices per room we paid about $350 tala which included a basic tropical breakfast toast and fruit coffee/ tea. The rooms all had air con, fridge and tea and coffee facilities. The room was nice and clean and serviced daily.
We ate a few times at the restaurant and the meals were a bit hit and miss, we had a pasta meal one day and out dish had about ½ cup oil in the bottom, we could not eat this dish. But then other time we had a pizza and this was nice. We have eaten here on previous visits to savaii ( while we stayed at another resort and the pasta used to be incredible, so we were disappointed with this). Another thing I found disappointing was the wine selection, they only had chardonnay! No sav Blanc! Very disappointing!! Considering most other places even small places had a better wine selection.
The resort offered activities which we watched the coconut demonstration, this was $10 per person.
The Beach across the road is small but gorgeous.
The Staff were friendly and the resort grounds are nice. It was a very relaxing place to stay.
Overall we enjoyed our stay at suifaga, and I think with just a few little changes this place would be really something special.
