I spent just over a week in Samoa, traveling throughout to explore the country, and was lucky enough to stay here on my travels. Its a small place with a fantastic beach, great for snorkeling and diving. They have a good bar/dinning area and the staff are really friendly. I stayed at Sinalei and Aggie Grey's during my stay and found this place to be the best of the three.

We recently spent a week at Savaii Lagoon resort with our family and wider family for my mothers 70th birthday. The resort is relatively small and it definitely has a lovely personal touch - it felt like staying with friends. Sarah and Wayne went well out of their way to set up a special birthday dinner and cake on the beach, the housekeepers wrote "happy 70th" on her bed in flowers and everyone helped make it a great day.
It is a great place for children, the lagoon is very protected and the beach is visible from most parts of the resort which meant we could be at the restaurant having dinner etc and the kids could just play on the beach. There is a childrens menu or the rooms are also well equipped with microwaves, electric frypan and fridges if you prefer to make your own. The shop across the road has bread, eggs, uht milk and icecream. Food at both the resort and the pizza place across the road was excellent.

I was initially worried about the lack of air conditioning however the rooms are well ventilated and it does cool down at night. We stopped at Aggie Greys on the way back home and defintiely felt pleased we had gone to Savaii Loagoon for the soul factor. We all noted we'd love to go back.

We stayed over Christmas period with Tony & Melissa as our hosts - Best hosts ever!
They were always ever so helpful and went out of their way to ensure our group had a great holiday. We stayed in 3 bungalows including the honeymoon suite. The rooms are simple, clean and private.
I really liked the way the resort place an importance in corporate social responsibility - integrating themselves within the community, buying local produce, hiring within the village and even providing tours of a local family plantation of one of their staff.
We recommend Savaii Lagoon Resort to all our family & friends and can't wait to return!

We recently spent 7 amazing nights at Savaii Lagoon Resort with our two small children (2 and 3 years) and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
Wayne and Sarah are doing a fantastic job managing this resort, they went out of their way to ensure we all had an amazing holiday experience. My 3 year old was sick on the ferry on the way over and when we arrived after our long journey Sarah offered to wash my daughters clothes for us, this is just one of the many examples of how this lovely couple went above and beyond for us.
The service, food and staff were of a very high standard. One of the highlights of our stay was seeing what Wayne put on the menu for dinner each night. All the food was cooked using fresh ingredients and the fish was cooked perfectly everytime. My husband had the eye fillet one night and he said it was cooked perfectly and commented that it was cooked better than what we get at restaurants at home most of the time. We headed over to Le Legoto for the Fia fia night one night and we found the food to be of poor quality for the high price we paid for it, we ate at Savaii Lagoon Resort for dinner for the rest of our stay.
The glass bottom boat was a hit with the kids, the guide was very informative and friendly and my 3 year old is still talking about the ship wreck we saw.
I found the kids didn't want to venture out of the resort too much, they were content building sandcastles and frolicking in the lagoon. We still managed to do a half island tour though which we booked through the resort which I definately recommend for those who choose not to hire a car.
This resort is the only resort in Samoa that treats their water which was great piece of mind especially when travelling with kids. We found not having to buy large bottles of water all the time was great and we noticed the savings after our week stay.
I would recommend this resort to anyone, we will be back.

Thank you Desmitty for an excellent review.
The Savaii Lagoon Resort team are delighted that you and your children enjoyed their holiday. The photos you posted on the resort Facebook alone speak for themselves. We try our utmost to be family friendly and to ensure that Mums and Dads also enjoy their break away. Being parents and grandparents, we appreciate the importance of this and it is great to know that you feel this has been achieved.

Stayed Christmas 2012/13. Small but fantastic resort, would recomend taking the beach front
rooms. Daily changes to the menu, with great food. Friendly staff, nothing a problem always there to help. Cookie and his team make everyone feel at home. Very relazing place. We will return.

Room Tip: Upgrade to the beach front units

Where to begin. Myself, husband, daughter & son inlaw arrived to a wonderful welcome. Beach was sandy, water very warm & clear. Swam at swimming hole at low tide (just along the beach) perfect. The rooms were perfect for us we had a separate bedroom bungalow very comfortable lots of screened opening windows. The others had waters edge bungalow also very nice. The food was amazing new dinner menu every day, lots of local fish/veges/fruit. Had a meal at the other resort but much preferred Savaai Lagoon resort.Sarah & Wayne the managers were so helpful in many ways organised a cake for my son inlaws birthday & always available to help.
We had thought we'd go on a tour but we just wanted to stay a resort & relax. Will definately go back would probably fly from Upolu although the Ferry was fine, we were on the big Ferry some other guest arrived on the small one & luggage got wet. Thanks Sarah & Wayne we will be back. June & Peter, Rachel & Josh

We stayed here for four nights with our 3 children and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
The beach is one of the best in Savaii. A lot of the island has volcanic rocky, or muddy edges, but the area around Savaii Lagoon resort is white sandy beaches, and clear warm water. As well, the resort next door has excavated a deep swimming hole which is perfect at low tide. There are nice recliners and shade, and it wasn't a problem getting one at any time of the day. There are two good quality kayaks for use at no cost, and these are great for exploring around the lagoon. Snorkelling gear can be hired from across the road, but it would be even better if the resort had some sets to hire out. The glass bottom boat was excellent as well, especially for the little kids. It is dependant on high tide, so the times it goes out changes every day. There is a nice amount of coral and fish to see, and the boat captain and guide were excellent.
The room is basic, but nice, and cleaned daily. The bathroom and open shower were fun, and there is great hot water. The kitchen was OK. The bed situation wasn't the best for the three kids, with 2 (aged 5 and 7) sharing a fold out futon which wasn't very comfortable in the heat (and it is hot, even with the fans on and louvres open, but it is a tropical country!) It's also worth noting that the resort has one side next to the village, and our room backed onto this. Unfortunately the local roosters were easily disturbed and crowed at all hours of the night. While my husband and kids slept though it, I was woken every time, and i overheard other guests reporting being woken by them. I understand it's part of life near a village, but if you're a light sleeper then earplugs might help!
The food is good quality- the breakfast fruit smoothies are delicious. Dinner changed each day, but was very limited in choice- I think a set menu with kids options would work better for families, together with a choice of specials- the resort next door offers this and we preferred our dinner there. But to be fair Wayne did offer us the choice of what we'd like cooked for the kids which was great.
Wayne and Sarah were always very helpful and friendly, and I think they are doing a great job here. We'd love to go back to Savaii Lagoon resort on day!

Thank you for an excellent review. We are happy to know that you consider our beach to be one of the best in Savaii.
Our glass bottom boat serves the purpose for those who are not keen to go snorkelling. It ensures that children have the opportunity to experience what the lagoon has to offer in terms of marine life - and how exciting it is when a turtle goes swimming past!
To address a couple of your concerns, - many resorts will not accept children, but we go all out to be family friendly. To accommodate three young children is difficult due to lack of space for bedding. Three single beds are one too many for the bungalow, in addition to a queen size bed for the adults. Our website states that we will accept three children, providing two are young and able to sleep on a push down sofa settee. The alternative for us is to turn away families who have more than two children, which is not what we wish to do, and certainly would be most disappointing for larger families. We find that guests are happy with this arrangement to enable their larger family to enjoy a tropical holiday on a beach.

In terms of a limited selection being available on the menu. we have a menu which is based solely on fresh and locally sourced produce. Chances are, if its caught that day, it will be on the menu that night. We believe good food comes from freshness and not having to be frozen for days, weeks and sometimes longer, before it is served to you. We think because the menu changes on a daily basis that there is a great and varied choice during a guest's'holiday. To have a larger menu would take us away from our emphasis on fresh produce.

Once again, thank you very much for your comments and we look forward to your return. Best wishes from team Savaii Lagoon resort.
