After 3 nights in Upolu we arrived in Savaii after a good ferry crossing and journey in a transit van, mid afternoon. We were well received at Reception and taken to our accommodation of the Beachfront Studio along with our baggage. We were explained about our Studio and the resort. The room was very clean and the ceiling fan was already running which was nice as it was a hot day.It was nice to have a room safe to put away our passports etc.The part outside shower room was great with netting to stop mosquitos. The room was fairly basic but had everything we wanted as we did not intend to spend time in it except for sleeping due to the awesome setting on the sandy beach with outstanding relaxing views. It was great just to leave the studio straight onto the beach and get into the warm sea. We spent the week (7 nights)mainly on the beach, reading, swimming and watching the fish in the shallows.Of course we had to go through the cocktail menu which was a must.Happy hour was great from 4.00pm - 7.00pm. Breakfast was great from 7.00am with fruit, cereals, toast, coffee or tea and a fruit smoothie. Due to the heat we did not want lunch most of the days but they had an adequate basic lunch menu. The dinner menu changed daily and usually consisted of a fish dish, a chicken dish a meat dish and also a pasta dish. We had dinner there a couple of nights and was good but we also ate at the larger resort next door (3 minute walk) and had a great thin based pizza from the pizza shop across the road from the resort (most expensive was 45 tala for a large special). The food choices were more than suitable for us.
The staff were fabulous and very friendly and on our last night we enjoyed a traditional celebration evening performed by the staff and Boy they were great!
The resort managers (Sarah and Wayne) were also great giving care and attention (in fact my watch broke and they loaned me an unclaimed watch from lost property till the end of the holiday)
We went out in the glass bottomed boat which gave us an insight to the coral reef and the recovering fish stocks in the Marine Reserve.
We went on a half day excursion with Sam from the local village. It was very informative with the family systems explained at his home followed by seeing sights like the Blow Holes,Waterfalls and other sights.
Overall we felt this holiday would only suit people who want to relax, snorkle or dive but do not expect an adrenaline filled time.
This was probably our best holiday we have ever had and want to return to Savaii Lagoon resort again. We were so relaxed we were tired and needed a holiday to get over our holiday.

It has been some time since we went to stay at Savai'i Lagoon (June 2014) but we have always intended to write this review! Wow - what a wonderful place (although John would have preferred a cooked breakfast...) Sarah was particularly thoughtful and understanding when we were both ill. Loved the fishing trip Wayne - it was the first time I had caught a Trevally! A great day out and fansinating to view Savai'i from the water - wonderful scenery.
We were lucky to be staying at Savai'i Lagoon when the owners, Bruce and Margaret were also there. Wonderful people who work hard with Sarah and Wayne to protect both the local villagers and the environment. So nice to be able to drink the tap water without fear of illness due to their water treatment plant; and to view the regeneration of the corals in the marine reserve (in the glass-bottomed boat).
We were delighted with our half-day trip with Sam (which lasted all day!) He had a great depth of knowledge, was charming and charismatic, and knew when the best times to view each sight be it the turtles or the blowholes. John's second tripwith Sam, to the canopy walk, both terrified and delighted him - John not being an 'adventurous' tourist.
Thank you all for having us to stay! We will be back!!!

Room Tip: Rooms are large and spacious. Great to have a washing line and pegs for togs and towels. Enjoyed t...

This is our third stay at savaii lagoon ( our 8th trip to samoa) and we are both in love with savaii lagoon.
Where to i start and try to explain why....
location location location ! The resort is on the most beautiful white sandy lagoon with amazing snorkelling and swimming, even on high tide there is a little water hole so you can swim all day! ( and yes we did just that!) There are little shades and beach lounges to relax on ( plenty for all the guests)
The managers are so friendly and you are welcomed back like family. The owners have created such a special place that makes holidaying so easy and enjoyable. There is a little restaurant and bar right on the beach. The staff are incredible and friendly and attentive.
You get a breakfast for fruit and toast ( you can help your self) tea coffee or juice ( there is no option for a cooked breaky which hubby would of enjoyed)
There is a small lunch menu and the food we ate was all really enjoyable ( the hamburgers are incredible there is a bakery across the road so the bread rolls were so fresh). some days we also had pizza delivered from across the road, it was so lovely to have a pizza picnic on the beach!
For dinner there is a option of a few dishes for guests to choose from, this ensures all ingredients are fresh. All meals we had were great!
we stayed in the honeymoon style waterfront room which we loved ! and would try to book this room again, it was so enjoyable sitting out the front of your room and enjoying a few drinks while watching the sunset.
The room was clean and spacious and very comfortable we stayed for 5 nights and i didn't want to leave. ( next time i will stay longer, as this is really what all my holiday dreams are about!)
You can also cook yourself in the rooms as they have a kitchen.
rooms were cleaned everyday.
For things to do there is of course the amazing swimming and snorkelling but if you want more then that you can do on the glass bottom boat, or out fishing or scuba diving ( we did diving one day and had the best time! it was my first time diving). Nearby is the lava church ruins and swimming with the turtles.
I cannot wait to go back! out of my 2 weeks in samoa this would again be my favourite. ( its simply perfection )

Room Tip: superior beachfront bungalow - water front ( best for water views ) LOVED this room

Thank you for your review. Excellent to hear that you and your husband enjoyed your holiday and knowing that it was your third time which you enjoyed as much as the first makes us feel that we are doing most things right. We always look for ways to improve, resulting in returning guests commenting on the changes from their last visit. The images you have posted are amazing, We would love to have copies of some of them. I was told that you were delightful guests. You said that our resort is your favourite place in Samoa, Wow! Thank you and hello from all at Savaii Lagoon.

At the Savaii Lagoon you're paying luxury prices for a rustic environment.
Located on a relatively pristine beach, it's an ideal place to relax and work on some melanoma.
The water is crystal clear, ideal for paddling the kayaks out over the reefs.

The bar staff were very friendly and efficient but generally we found that Savaii Lagoon resort didn't represent value for money. Our stay was hampered by frequent cuts to the power supply which made sleeping impossible without a fan & the daily breakfast consisted only of cereal and toast. I'd expect more for the money we paid.
We also had issues with the water pressure of the shower which was a little more than a dribble. Credit to the management who were very responsive in fixing this when we reported it, & it was subsequently improved somewhat.

As previous guests photos attest, you do get an awesome sunset here.

Dear Piarts_ontour,
Thank you for your review. To answer your concerns, breakfast is a tropical breakfast of a generous plate of various fruits in season or made into fresh fruit smoothies, choice of three cereals, toast, spreads, tea or coffee and you can return to the buffet for second helpings. It is not just toast and cereal. When you were at the resort, there were a lot of power cuts caused by the power on Savaii being changed from diesel to solar. The authorities had problems with the new power system and the infrastructure did not cope.. Road side power transformers were constantly blowing because of the extra load. As a result villages were put on rotating rations. We are unable to control the power supply and we find that guests are generally appreciative of the problems on a small island. We are disappointed that you did not enjoy your holiday as our managers strive their utmost to ensure that guests have a comfortable and happy stay. We wish you well on your travels.

We had a great time here at Savai'i Lagoon resort. We had two kids (5 and 9) and both the girls loved the beach and the snorkelling. We didn't have to go too deep at all and could enjoy seeing a lot of fish. Wayne and Sarah were friendly and helped with tour arrangement. In addition to the restaurant, there are other food options across the road for pizza and also the resort nearby. Overall we really loved our time here and would recommend to other families.

Our family of four (2 adults and 2 teenagers), plus another family, had a great time at this resort. It really was the pick of the accommodation and offerings around Savaii. We explored the island with a rental which was great, and we certainly were excited to kick back and come home to Savaii Lagoon resort. The beach is awesome, and we snorkelled with turtles a couple of times. Just great. Loved the breakfasts in the morning - we often stayed for over an hour just winding up for another relaxing day. Rooms clean and tidy and well maintained. Highly recommended.

Dear Andersentravel,
It was a true compliment to read that you thought of Savaii Lagoon as your home while you were on holiday. We are delighted to say that guests are seeing turtles more often as they go snorkelling. Our bar and restaurant is a friendly place to meet other guests and this is often commented on. Thank you.
