Our family of 5 spent 7 nights at Manumea in late June. We all loved the resort. We arrived around 2am at the resort and Luna and 2 other staff were waiting to greet us and take us straight to our room. We paid $425 ST per night for the 5 of us but I believed that it was good value for money for the standard of accommodation available in Samoa.

The room was modern and spacious with great decor and the outdoor bathroom was the highlight of the accommodation. Having a shower outside under the stars on the warm nights was divine. The air conditioning worked well in the room and on some nights left it off with just the ceilling fan running.

Breakfast was included and was adequate and consisted of fruit, toast and eggs cooked to our instruction. The dinning area was near the pool, under a large open samoan fale amid beautiful gardens in a relaxing setting. We ate at the resort on one night and the dinner was again adequate. If you want a great restaurant meal in an excellent setting look for the Treasure Garden chinese restaurant in town. Great tasting dishes and it only cost us 120 tala for the 5 of us and the servings were so large that we didn't finish the meal(took the leftovers in a take away tray). Definately the best meal that we had in samoa.

Samoa is such a beautiful place with so much to see. We spent our second week in Savaii which was even more beautiful. We stayed at the Savaiian Hotel for 7 nights which I will also shortly review.

After each day of travelling the kids used the pool on most evenings which was a great way to wind down with the inpool lights on.

Luna was a great host and was always helpful. Requests were always carried out with a smile and rooms were serviced daily. I highly recommend this resort as a base to explore the island.

This is a small hotel with only 12 rooms, set in beautiful tropical gardens. It is slightly up the hill from the city centre (only 5 tala cab ride) - a real bonus to be away from the noise and smog of the city. These guys have taste - the rooms are beautiful, large, clean, and cool. Food and bar great. The real treat is the family who own Le Manumea - warm, welcoming, entertaining and interesting. Luna is THE kindest and most helpful hostess we have met, and obviously a great organiser - if you are planning a wedding your planning will be safe in her hands!

we have been a family travelling with 2 young children (5 and 1 years old). luna, the manager, and her staff made us a great stay. they all have been so child-friendly! there have been toys around we could use and everyone took care for us and our children! we spent one week in this hote and we can recommend it as a great spot to explore the island.

the room has been large and beautiful. the bathroom has to bee mentioned as it has no roof and you can look at the stars at night!

the hotel is not very big. just 12 rooms in 6 double-houses surrounded by beautiful flowers. that also makes the stay very personal and so the hotel was not just a hotel but more a home for us and we all have been sad to leave after a great week.

As frequent travellers to Samoa and other Pacific Islands we can safely say that Manumea is the best place to stay within Apia. The rooms are massive and come with kitchenette and out door bathroom and shower. The place is on the hill in Vailima so is cooler than staying in town. Its far enough away to be "jungle" yet only a stones throw away from most tourist attractions. The staff are polite and the pool is cool. perfect after a long day in the sun.

If you are looking for a place that is over crowded and full of Tourists, then this place is not for you. If you are looking for a place that has a relaxing atmosphere and a good dinner menu (you should try the long island ice tea from the bar drinks menu) then Manumea is definitely the place for you. Get in quick but, from what I counted there are only 12 - 15 beautiful cottage like accomadation availble.

To the Luna and the staff, you have done a wonderful job of brining comfort to the hotel industry of Samoa.

We look forward to seeing you again.

Mario and Lisa and little Mali.

There are only so many words one could chose to sum up this resort, the manageress and the staff - perfect.

We arrived at a resort for 4 3 nights stay and left with a home-away-from-home. The resort is superbly designed and the fales are simply stunning. The restaurant and bar area are lovely and situated near the pool.

It took us all of about 10 minutes to become friends and on first name terms with Luna (owner/manger) and the staff. 3 girls were travelling together and the staff always asked where we were going of an evening and organised our transportation to ensure we were safe and accounted for. Luna even dropped us off places if we were heading out at the same time.

Of an evening when we came back, we would always be welcomed and invited to join Luna and Norman at their table for drinks and had some fantastic laughs.

The loveliest gesture was on our last day in Apia, we had just arrived back from 3 days in Savai'i but Luna had said that we could come back to the resort and have a shower/room up until we needed to leave for the airport - it was so kind and such a wonderful service.

Having discussed the negative reviews with Luna and Norman that appear on this site (from the couple that had the issue with the cancellation policy etc), I was surprised to hear how much they had orchestrated their story in order to get out of honouring their booking at Le Manumea - this was verified by the other hotel they then booked into whilst claiming they had to fly home for an emergency! Shame on you.

I have travelled extensively across the planet, to some 53+ countries and stayed in every range of accommodation from tents to 5* - I would wholeheartedly recommend this resort and so would my friends. I cant even think of any 'suggestions' for improvement to offer - there are none!

You will not be disappointed with your choice here and will be made so welcome that you will not want to leave and will long to return again. I would not hesitate to spend any time I am in Samoa, in this beautiful place with what I deem, my beautiful Samoan friends.

God bless you and with love, Carrie-Leigh, Christina and Amanda.

Room was dirty & smelt horrible, with no amount of spraying getting rid of it. A purchase air freshner also did not help.
Left us standing at reception for 15/20 mins on checkin whilst the receptionist had a cup of tea with friends in the dinning room visible from reception. Reception was stacked with boxes and plastic bags looked like a storage room rather than a reception area for a international resort. Terrible first impression.
Dirty sheets, fridge in room did not work, reported it 3 times - Our refrigerated shopping went off. Could not open all windows as mozzie nets only covered half the windows. Breakfast was bundled into pkg - we both ordered I got served breakfast , my partner got a coffee no meal. Booked in for 4 nights left after one and went to Aggies Resort. No refund offered, no apology upon early checkout, infact they were very grateful that we were leaving, the recepionist said that they had overbooked.

we had stayed at manumea 18mths ago and loved it, and looked forward to our trip back, well we weren't disapointed- it's still sensational!.
we loved that fact that it's a small boutique hotel and you really are made to feel at home and welcomed into the family.
the rooms are still in perfect condition, very nicely decorated. and the bed !!! it's so so comfortable and big, high quality linen. all rooms are air conditioned and have fans, small kitchenette, with fridge / microwave. My absolute favourite is still the bathrooms - they are tiled with lava rocks and have an outdoor shower, and in the morning you are hear the signing from the monestry next door. In the rooms there are TV's. and all rooms have a little porch with table and chairs. there is a great pool, which we used heaps.
it's only about 5 minutes out of town , so we went out for dinner most nights. great pizza giodano's ,down the road, and a curry place next door ( really cheap and tasty). we did eat in some nights and enjoyed our meal. one day we also got some sandwhiches made and packed a picnic and went to a lovely waterfall.
the room rate includes breakfast, toast / egg/ cereal/ fruit /tea /coffee.
this place is so comfortable and clean and we once again loved our stay and highly recommed this place.
we will be back .. again
