This was a lovely place to stay. The rooms were nicely appointed and the beds were comfortable. The whole wall was covered in windows which allowed a fantastic breeze and large amount of light. They picked us up from the airport and the staff was very friendly and chatty.
Althought it is not near any of the downtown area, it was still within walking distance. The cable TV was pretty bad, the pool was a little dirty looking, but the staff was friendly and they gave us free bikes to ride around town on our first day there.
There was no free internet, there was no bar or resturaunt on site, and the hotel was reliavely empty. There was a lovely outside seating area where they had continental breakfast (mostly just bread and tea).

Talofa Amanda T,

Hope all is well at your end. Thanks for taking the time to post a review on Le Alaimoana Hotel although its been some time back since your visit.

Sorry it was so quiet during your stay. We will try to communicate our dining services better during the quiet periods, where we encourage our guests to make reservations for evening meals.

We take on board your comments about the pool and will work harder to maintain it sparkling clean for all our guests. We had some discoloration on the walls after the floods that we hope to fix soon.

I hope you will return to Samoa soon and would love if you stay with us again.

Faafetai,

Mara Hunter

great place to stay, from the moment we arrived (1130 pm) we were met by happy people who couldnt do enough for us. Great pool, nice outdoor area to sit and have a few beers and relax. Bit of a walk into town but not to far, felt safe and comfortable walking around the area (even at night) and if you do need a taxi its only a 5 tala into town and the motel can organise that for you. Rooms are clean and bed comfortable, we had ground floor rooms which were cool most of the time but if needed the aircon works a treat, mini fridge in rooms to keep drinks cool. Overall a great place to stay, would recommend to family, couples or travelling alone, one thing that did stand out, not just hear but all over somoa was how friendly every is, thanks for a great few days.

Le Alaimoana is a little way out of Apia, but it's reasonably handily located to get in and out of town and is an ideal cost effective base in Apia.

It's very clean and the rooms are spacious. The design means the upper deck and rooms stay reasonably cool and it's a great idea to have A/C on hourly rates - it's there if you need it. All the rooms come equipped with fans and for us staying in early May that was generally enough through the night.

Although the place is ok, a few touches would make it really good. For a starter, the swimming pool; palagi like me need to cool off and a swim in a clean pool is vital, as is keeping the pool clean by running it and vacuuming it every day. It also keeps the mosquitoes under control.

The rooms were inconsistently appointed, one of us had no electric jug, and no glasses. I had 2 glasses and 2 cups and a microwave, but not a teaspoon or knife in sight. If every room had a coffee plunger a jug, a couple of wine glasses, a couple of teaspoons & knives, it would make this a much better facility, with too much extra expenditure.

Towels - no matter what I asked for, I couldn't get a handtowel, a facecloth and only occasionally got a bathmat. I also had to keep asking for 2 towels, one for swimming, one for showering. Little things, but when are you working, or even holidaying, these things make stays so much easier and more pleasant.

And if you offer business facilities, make sure you can deliver. This was a real shame as we could have done with some quick printing, but were told it wasn't possible.

However, the kitchen and cleaning were just lovely and very obliging. They seemed to notice we were buying our own tropical fruit, so after a couple of days this started appearing as part of our continental breakfast. And they were very generous in allowing us to have meals outside the set hours as well as hosting a workshop in the facility which they helped us set up and bring in our own meal.

We hired a car to get around and the Hotel offer this too, which is really a must in Samoa.

Hi hillary_sumpter, thanks for posting the review and it is helpful to me as manager to know that some of my team may not be pulling in the same direction. Certainly if you had had a word with me I would have fixed it for you on the spot. Without making excuses the fact is we had a lot of staff turnover after the flooding and hotel closure after Cyclone Evan, and had to retrain new staff from scratch.
Please let me know if you are not experiencing the best service as I can resolve it without too much effort. Thanks for the feedback. Mara

I have travelled frequently to Samoa over the past three months and stayed at Alaimoana for all of the 3 months because of both the hospitality and excellent service provided by management, staff and even those families connected to the hotel. It was a home away from home; I was treated as a high chief from a distant land and was treated as such. The owner was always ever present to cheer you up with the days happening, the staff always patiently providing you with the traditional warmth of a Samoan smile and I will never forget my experience at Alaimoana, and if given the opportunity to return will always remember it as a home away from home.
Cycling is a must and do when staying at Alaimoana, as Fred is always there to show you the sights and sounds on the back of a cycle. Kia manuia.

Having traveled to Apia frequently for work over the past 8 years or so, I've stayed in many hotels there with varying experiences. I stayed at Alaimoana the first time shortly after it was constructed, and since then have never stayed anywhere else in Apia. It's a small establishment run by a local family with a commitment to providing a great experience for their guests. The rooms are spacious, clean, and well-equipped and the staff is always gracious and helpful. The location is ultra-convenient - close to town without being in the middle of the action - and the food at the small café is outstanding! It's the kind of place you almost hesitate to review because you don't want it getting TOO popular! Mahalo to Mara and everybody for a consistently great experience.

For our final night in Samoa after a few hit and miss properties I opted to go with what I knew and return to Le alaimoana. Rates are some of the best you will find for this quality of room! Rooms are clean, equipped with old clean beds and facilities even microwaves which is handy with kids. Bathrooms clean and fan/air con facilities were awesome. Free breakfast was great even though we opted for a big cooked one due to the long day we had ahead of us. Staff were wonderful. Even remembered us from our previous stay a year and a half ago! Great choice for business travelers as its close to town, free parking, good wireless facilities and great prices. Only slight downer is the Mosquitos are much worse here than some hotels so may need some sort of outdoor deterrent system due to the lush surroundings they seem to attract the Mosquitos further more.

Room Tip: All rooms are in a good location, grab a family room if you require space or rooms upstairs if you w...

Talofa Paulune N,
Thanks for taking the time to write some feedback on us. Its always great to hear from happy guests. We hope your trip back home was comfortable, and that you are back to your normal routines - relieved and relaxed after Samoa.

Thanks for the feedback about the mosquitoes, we will try to do more about it. We do spray bi monthly to get rid of larvae on any water about and in foliage by day, plus havingmosquitoe coils and aeroguard spray available in the dining and poolside areas. I wished there was a sure fix to get rid of the critters off our property!

I hope you return to Samoa again in the not too distant future and stay with us!

Alofa,
Mara
