We have just returned from spending 4 nights at this resort. It was really enjoyable and a good way to meet other travelers as everyone sits together for Breakfast & Dinner. Its a 2 hr drive from the Airport and make sure you bring Cash as the Only ATMs are in Apia. Overall we had a really good time- The beach is amazing. If your not afraid of Cats or the odd Crab coming into your room go for an Open Fale- Otherwise an enclosed Fale! We had this experience and stayed in an enclosed Fale with an En suite for our last night. Would definitely stay here again.

We have just returned from a 2 week trip to samoa and spent 5 nights at Taufua with our 2 kids aged 4 and 6. It was fantastic for kids, heaps of other kids around and they would all go off and play together, it was very safe and lots of fun.

the beach was lovely and although the coral is destroyed from the tsunami there are still a lot of beautiful fish out there and even our 6 year old could snorkel right out to have a good look as you didn't have to go too far off the shore.

The food was fantastic, on any night you would get salad, rice or mash potato, a pasta dish, a stirfry or curry dish, spring rolls, some great seafood, we had crayfish, mussels, prawns, fish, one night had beautiful cooked lamb chops, it was great. Meals come out on big dishes to share so you just share as you would in a family at home and everyone gets enough. It's nice having other travellers to talk to at night, and the restaurant does great lunches and is a nice place to sit and play cards and have a beer in the afternoon or in the rain...it rained ALOT there but maybe that is not the usual weather.
Fia fia night was great. We chose an enclosed fale which after later staying in an open fale on savai'i I would recommend this as the closed ones leave your mattress etc a bit damp, better with more air flow. Bring earplugs because the sea just roars at night!
Toilets and cold showers over the road but no problem even late at night it's all well lit and feels very safe.
Only thing I can say is having a car would have been nice as the tours they advertise didn't really happen but we had a nice taxi driver to take us to the ocean trench, sliding rocks, cave pool and a few beaches. It's really easy to drive around.

Great staff there and great memories for our family.

Room Tip: Open fale is best even with kids

We stayed for 3 nights in one of the closed falés, which was spacious and had power, overall the falé was great. beautiful location, although about 2 hours from the airport, with good service. Would visit again.

Loved it here, stayed 6 nights with 2 children as part of a group of 12 and had the most wonderful time. The food was great, plentiful and although basic, tasty and wholesome, try the potato salad it's great. Sunday was a real treat with the umu lunch, and BBQ night lovely too.

I travelled here with my 15 year-old son. It was his first insight into really low key, low budget and communal travel. He is now a convert. We slept in an open beach front fale. It was late when we arrived and the blinds around the fale were down due to rain. The place looked deserted and the waves crashing felt and sounded loud at first. We woke to a magnificent beach and a lovely relaxed atmosphere. The collection of people staying was wonderful and varied. As you would expect, communal dining left lots of opportunity to mix, share experience and tips. 60% of travellers were probably between 21-28ish and the remaining a mix of older singles, couples and one young family. Every body made an effort and this atmosphere continued as some left and others arrived. The open fales have foam mattresses, clean bedding and mosquito nets. The communal showers and toilets serviceable, but may be challenging to a non camper. The food is plentiful and good. You do not get travel bargains like this anymore, food, accommodation with a million dollar view and great attitudes for $45 Aus a day. Just make sure to bring some snacks from apia , if you get the munchies between meals, there is not a lot of opportunities to shop nearby. Do it, you'll love it!

My partner and I stayed at Taufua a number of times during our 6 week stay in Samoa. We cant praise the staff highly enough for their hospitality, we were made to feel like part of the family. The beach is the best beach in Samoa with beautiful white sand and crystal clear water. The fales have amazing views and are basic but everything that you need. One of the staff called Kate was
a lovely lady who made our stay even better and Bruce was always around to beat you at card games. The food was lovely, with plenty available and was of a high standard compared to some of the other fales on the island. Lunch was provided on a sunday which included a hog roast (which my partner demolished every time we were there!) and traditional samoan food and crayfish was served on saturday evenings.
We stayed in the mountain view fales one weekend as the beach fales were fully booked, we were pleasantly surprised by these, air conditioned rooms with a spectacular view over the beach. The staff were more than happy to ferry you to and from the beach at the drop of a hat as we didnt have a car, don't be afraid to ask for a lift!

Overall we had a lovely time at the fales and will miss the friends and memories created at this place and would love to return!
