“Downhome food”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 April 2013

This is a local favorite. It is known for its Mexican food and the train that runs around the ceiling. It is tucked back off the main drag (Grand Avenue) so can be hard to find. If you want to go where the locals go, this is it. Nothing fancy but consistently good Mexican offerings.

“Tasty!”

Service here is quick & friendly. The Carne Asada plate, Horchata, Limonade, & Carne Asada tacos are delicious. The atmosphere/decor is interesting. I would eat here again if ever in town.

“Tough luck”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 March 2012 via mobile

Several local people recommended this place to us and we were looking forward to a nice meal. Too bad we showed up at 8:20 p.m. They were closed. Surprising, but ok. What was not ok was the rude host who couldn't be bothered to recommend an alternative.

“Great food, good prices, funky-charming atmosphere”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 February 2012

Excellent Sonoran-style steak and Mexican food. The Parillada platter is a feast for the carnivore! Prices are comparable to most other Mexican restaurants in Southern Arizona (which is NOT to say cheap), though the burritos are a bargain...tons of excellent food for less than $5. The service can be mixed. They have a huge buffet on the weekends, but you really want to get there while the place is busy so the food stays fresh. You can't go wrong ordering off the menu. Sadly, they do NOT have enchiladas or Chiles Rellenos, but that is actually because of their commitment to freshness, so you have to respect it. It's a little out of the way, but BOY is it good!

“Excellent Sonoran style food in a fun, rustic atmosphere.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 January 2012

This hard-to-find place is WELL worth the search. It's been a favorite of locals for years. Family owned, they have a tradition of authentic, Sonoran style Mexican food that is better than most of the restaurants you'll find across the border in Mexico, just a few blocks away. The steaks here are geared more towards Carne Asada than typical gringo steaks, but are well prepared and delicious. The weekend buffets can be downright overwhelming there's so much to choose from. Although there is a large bar at one end, the restaurant has a great appeal to families. If you bring your kids they'll be sure to send the model train for a few spins around the track suspended from the ceiling. One of our favorites!
