Even in July, Camelback is a great place to just relax. We didn't even leave the property all the time we were there for 4 days! It was just I needed to relieve the stress of the job and enjoy the company of friends. The food at Rita's is the best for lunch and breakfast and the patio dining is a treat. Even happy hour on the terrace with music by local groups was entertainment enough. The option of pools is nice, even though the larger one was near our room, the pool at the spa was mostly adults and quiet for girl talk. Would return here any time of the year, and yes, July wasn't so bad either!

It's a classic, it has it quirks ( driving a distance to get to your room) but the staff is great, grounds are immaculate and you can't beat the location. F&B are priced like a 5 star resort, but quality and service match the price. If it fits your budget this is a great resort.

So this place isn't cheap....I get it. It's a splurge and we went because my husband's conference was at the hotel, but here's the thing....I think it's worth it and I would go back when my kids are bigger....that says a lot for someone who is usually after value and like I said, this place ain't cheap.
so why is it worth the money? lots of places talk about 'caring for their customers', and 'put customer service first' but they rarely deliver on that kind of 'talk'. At JW Marriott, I felt like they really do talk the talk AND they walk the walk. My husband and I were down for a golf vacation and the airline lost our golf clubs. they were sympathetic and they were willing to go over and beyond to ensure our vacation isn't ruined.
for example, the next day, even though the airline found our golf clubs, they took forever to deliver them and as precious time was ticking away, Jack from the club house was willing to offer us rental shoes and clubs for free ( because the airline won't cover those costs now that the luggage is recovered) so we can get out and play. they don't nickle and dime you at this place, and they really try to make it happen. Jeremy at the course was guiding us through so we can somehow play both their course. it was really nice to get that kind of service.
Another example: the first room we were given had a really damp carpet, to a point where our socks were soaked and wet upon stepping on it. we were given another room within 20 minutes of notifying them, which was expected. what was unexpected was the beautiful cheese platter we received in the room that night as an apology to changing our room. that was a really nice touch and without the customer having to say anything. this type proactive corrective gesture is unexpected and appreciated.
Food at Rita's kitchen and BLT steakhouse was great too. I'll write individual reviews for those so check them out if you are interested in food....because I am.
all in all, very happy with the place and would love to go back with our kids.

Room Tip: check the carpet. sometimes the weather and aircon makes it damp in the room

Stayed here with my husband and baby. What an absolutely gorgeous property! You can smell the flowers as you walk through the resort. Rooms are spacious and we loved the kitchenette. I can see what other reviewers meant by the dated bathrooms, but it didn't bother me. Restaurants were fantastic. Pool was great. I got a Sonoran Rose facial at the spa and it left my skin glowing. I'll be back.

This is the one destination we return to every year. You arrive to the scent of burning sage in the outdoor firepit. Your room will be tucked into a pueblo type dwelling that is lovely. The spa is divine...you must try the signature massage and facial. You can stay at the secluded all day when you have a treatment and the food and service around the pool are excellent.
You will leave relaxed, tranquil, and ready to tackle the world!

Room Tip: Ask not to have a room near the restaurant...there are early morning deliveries that might disturb y...

This is an old (by Phoenix standards - 1940's) resort that was built in the valley between Mummy and Camelback mountain when there was nothing around. Today, it is in the center of town but you'd never know it. It's sprawling, huge property that still has a very quaint, old Arizona feel to it. It's very upscale and tranquil, with lots of beautiful scenery from anywhere you are on the property. The Spa is second to none. Get a cabana by the spa pool and relax the day away while you are served some of the most inventive and delicious cocktails around. My wife got a manicure and I did a massage in the afternoon, then back out to the cabana. We got a "sundeck suite" that has a huge sun deck attached to it where you can relax during the morning to have breakfast outside with the birds and view to keep you company. The BLT Steakhouse is fantastic, with great food and service. There is live music outside by the patio bar/restaurant on the weekends and it's simply a wonderful way to spend the evening. Stay here and you will never leave!

The only downside is that it is expensive. I would not consider it a good value overall, but it is a first class place. We spent $2500 for a 2 night weekend but we spared no expense dining or spa-ing. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: The sundeck rooms have great views and are on the 2nd floor. I'd recommend it for the privacy.
