Nice place for the kids. We visited via boat, but it costs too much to get into the park for simply a day visit.

Over the last 2 years we have spent quite a bit of time at Buckskin Mountain, Cattail Cove, and Windsor Beach in Havasu City. This last visit was at River Island Campground. Overall, we really enjoy Arizona State Parks for camping and River Island was no exception. It has clean, modern bathrooms, electric, and water at each site. Sites are quite big, but trees are a little small. The only drawback was one of the Rangers. He was less than helpful to say the least. The other Ranger was quite nice and helped us find some great hiking. Kayaking is too swift in spring, except above Parker dam.

A nice two hour hike with some elevation. Well marked trail and a couple of spurs that extend the walk. Overall, a surprisingly good warm-up hike.

Buckskin Mountain State Park is very nice but so is River Island and Cattail Cove. All of them offer beaches and camping. They're great to get away from it all, but there is not too much of a reason to visit if you're aim is Lake Havasu City. Buckskin Mountain offers plenty of group get-together space, a large campground, shade ramadas, a cafe and convenience store. Boating and personal water craft are very big here, no matter where you are along the water.

Dont know much about "camping". But stayed there in a friends motor home and it was real nice. Clean and nice shower bathroom facility. The amp. to our hook up was not enough power to run the air conditioning for the whole motor home. Sucked in the evening, too hot. So check on this if you have a large one like our friends did. A restaurant on the grounds was fine for breakfast or a meal. It has a large deck right on the river and the stars are beautiful from this view. A adequate, small convience store on grounds for ice, drinks ect. What suprised me the most was a really nice bathing suit shop on the grounds. A boat launch ramp on the grounds, maybe two. But the park is clean and the river sparkles with a beautiful view.
