“Outstanding birding and wildlife area”
Reviewed 26 February 2014

The creek has (rare) open water and the riparian habitat in the preserve is rich in bird, animal and plant life. Nature Conservancy does a great job of stewardship. Trails are easy and well marked. Note that it is not open 7 days per week.

“Nice, but no dogs allowed”
Reviewed 10 February 2014

It is a nice place for a gentle hike, but Nature Conservancy (which I support) doesn't allow dogs, so is limited for me.

“Nice Walk, all flat”
Reviewed 31 August 2013

Although we are not birders, we enjoyed the relative short and flat walk at the preserve. The young volunteer at the Visitor Center was full of information. This is a keeper.
If you are a member of the Nature Conservancy, the fee is $3, otherwise it is a little more.

“Great birding.”
Reviewed 7 May 2013

Although there were not quantity of migrating birds, the quality and number of species was excellent. neat to see the riparian green stretch miles in the desert. Attended a humming bird banding and got to see curved billed thrasher nesting in a cactus.

“a great walk”
Reviewed 25 April 2013

Not knowing what to expect, my sister and I were pleasantly surprised with this little Preserve so close to the border. Walking along the creek side, you would never guess you were in the desert. The hummingbird feeders at the visitor center attract an enormous numbers of these fascinating little creatures. I could have sat there all day and watched them. We were able to identify several birds along the creek trail. Binoculars a must! The visitor center supplies maps of the trails, a must or it is easily to get turned around. Well worth the drive south.
